NJPW G1 Climax 36 night two results, updated standings
The G1 Climax 36 continued in Sapporo on Saturday, July 18.
The show featured matches from the A Block and was headlined by Hirooki Goto scoring a victory over IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji.
Goto picked up the win by countering a Fire Blaster with a heel kick before hitting the GTR and GTR Kai for the victory.
After the match, Goto had the following to say:
“Thank you for coming today! I can become the oldest ever winner of the G1 this year. Only I can! You know why? That’s right- the G in G1 stands for Goto!”
The semi-main event saw Shingo Takagi pin Ryohei Oiwa with the Burning Dragon. Boltin Oleg defeated Yuto-Ice via referee stoppage after delivering a series of powerbombs. Yuto’s tag partner OSKAR carried him to the back after.
Konosuke Takeshita defeated Jake Lee with Raging Fire, while Great-O-Khan defeated SANADA via countout after pile driving him on a chair outside the ring.
The show also featured one B Block tournament match, with Drilla Moloney defeating Gabe Kidd with the Drilla Killa.
