Tony Khan: AEW is doing best viewership ‘in a long time,’ if not ever
Tony Khan believes AEW’s viewership could be at an all-time high.
We’ve recently seen AEW Dynamite draw some of its best TV ratings in a while, with last week’s show doing Dynamite’s best viewership of 2026 and its highest amount of viewers in two years. The actual viewership is higher than Nielson’s reported number given that Dynamite now also streams on HBO Max, but there’s no available data on how many viewers that simulcast is adding each week.
During an appearance on Power Players with Brian Sozzi, Khan hyped that excitement around AEW is at an all-time high. He also brought up the viewership numbers AEW has been drawing, saying it’s the most the company has had “in a long time, if [not] ever.” The Power Players interview was conducted earlier this month and uploaded today.
“Two years ago, we weren’t streaming on HBO Max yet. So the viewership now, the true viewership is actually much higher because not only do we have the TBS viewers, but also we have streaming viewership,” Khan said. “So in reality, this is the hottest and most viewers we’ve had in a long time, if [not] ever. And it feels like the excitement around AEW today is at an all-time high.”
Dynamite drew 786,000 viewers for last week’s show. The last time the program crossed the one-million viewer mark on TV was in early 2023, before Dynamite and Collision’s HBO Max simulcast began at the start of 2025.
The road to AEW All In 2026 —
AEW is currently on the road to All In, which has become the company’s biggest annual pay-per-view. There are still a couple of significant events on the AEW calendar before that, including the Revolution PPV in Montreal this Sunday and Grand Slam Mexico Dynamite from Mexico City on August 5. All In is taking place at Wembley Stadium in London on August 30.
This Wednesday, AEW heads to Nashville for the pre-Revolution edition of Dynamite.
