Update on WWE’s recent trademark filings
WWE has filed for multiple new trademarks recently.
On July 17, the company filed to trademark the name KYOKI with the US Patent and Trademark Office. The purposes of the trademark listed as “entertainment services, namely wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler.”
WWE also recently filed to trademark a term previously associated with the recently returned Baron Corbin. On July 10, the company filed to trademark the name “The Nomad,” with the purposes of the trademark listed as “entertainment services, namely wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler.”
Corbin often went by “The Nomad” Bishop Dyer during his time away from WWE.
The full purposes of the trademarks are listed as: “IC 041: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”
These trademarks come after other recent filings by WWE, including filing to trademark RKO for wrestling purposes on July 6, as well as “Tribal Chief” for merchandise and clothing purposes.
On June 26, it also filed to trademark the name Bakusai for wrestling purposes.
