Thunder Rosa believed to be done with Busted Open amid WWE Radio switch | Exclusive
Thunder Rosa’s time on Busted Open Radio could be over with SiriusXM’s wrestling channel rebranding to “WWE Radio.”
In the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that it’s believed AEW’s Thunder Rosa will no longer be part of Busted Open. She’s been among the rotating cast of co-hosts for the show but has not appeared often lately. Rosa did call in once this month on a show celebrating Busted Open host Dave LaGreca’s birthday.
Meltzer wrote:
- Thunder Rosa had been on the show but she’s not listed in any of the press releases and those close to the situation believe she will no longer be on the show. I would think given this would be a WWE controlled show that it would be impossible to keep an AEW talent on it.
Pro Wrestling Nation 24/7, SiriusXM’s wrestling channel, officially becomes WWE Radio next Monday (July 27). Busted Open will continue to anchor the programming lineup, with other shows from Sam Roberts, Peter Rosenberg, and more continuing as well. WWE Radio will also have original commentary for every WWE PLE, audio simulcasts of Raw, SmackDown & NXT, and will air WWE’s podcast slate.
Busted Open claims tone will not change —
LaGreca, who is the main host of Busted Open, vowed yesterday that the tone of the show will not be changing despite this WWE partnership. He said WWE wants Busted Open to be what it always has been.
“It means the absolute world to me that we have grabbed their attention and now they’re a part of our family. And they want us to be the way that we’ve always been,” LaGreca said. “They don’t want to change us. When we have to be critical, we’ll be critical. When there’s praise, we’ll praise. That’s what, with this foundation of what we’ve always done, that’s not going to change. But now we have so much more.”
What the change will mean for discussion of non-WWE promotions remains to be seen. Bully Ray, another Busted Open co-host, said they will be talking about more than just WWE, though he did not say if that means there will be any AEW discussion.
