NJPW G1 Climax night six results, updated standings
The G1 Climax 36 continued on Saturday with a show at EBARA WAVE Arena in Tokyo.
After four matches each, Konosuke Takeshita leads the pack with six points and a 3-1 record. Shingo Takagi sits at the bottom of the block with a 1-3 record and two points. Everyone else has four points with 2-2 records.
The first tournament match of the show saw Great-O-Khan defeat Hirooki Goto. The finish saw a referee bump, with Goto appearing as though he was going to strike O-Khan with a chair. However, Goto hesitated, allowing O-Khan to hit him with a low blow followed by the Eliminator for the win.
After the match, O-Khan continued to attack Goto with chairs. He finished the attack by placing Goto’s head on a chair and striking him with another chair.
SANADA picked up a countout victory over Jake Lee, moving both wrestlers’ records to 2-2. SANADA tied Lee to the guardrail on the outside, preventing him from making it back into the ring before the count of 20.
Konosuke Takeshita defeated Boltin Oleg in the third tournament match, becoming the first wrestler in the block to reach six points. The finish saw Takeshita hit multiple knees to the face before landing Raging Fire for the win. Boltin’s record dropped to 2-2.
Yuto-Ice picked up his second win of the tournament in the semi-main event by defeating Ryohei Oiwa. Chris Charlton noted on commentary multiple times that Yuto had lost his previous two matches via referee stoppage. Yuto also came into the match heavily taped up, although Oiwa did as well. The finish saw Yuto hit Cruella for the win.
Yota Tsuji defeated Shingo Takagi in the main event, improving his record to 2-2 while dropping Takagi to 1-3. Tsuji paid respect to Takagi during his show-closing promo and promised to win the whole tournament.
