Backstage talk regarding Bayley’s WWE future | Exclusive
Dave Meltzer provided an update on Bayley in Friday’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer wrote that, according to one source, there was talk backstage following Saturday Night’s Main Event that the show may have been Bayley’s last time wrestling at Madison Square Garden.
Bayley lost to Lyra Valkyria on the show in what many are speculating could have been the blowoff to what might ultimately be Bayley’s final angle with the company.
Meltzer wrote:
“Unless Bayley comes back as a surprise for revenge, this felt like an angle both ending the program and maybe blowing off Bayley for good. One person did note to us before the show that there was talk backstage that this would be Bayley’s last match in Madison Square Garden. Well, that depends on many factors.”
He later added:
“Lots of talk regarding Bayley (Pamela Martinez, 37) and her future. Her contract expires later this year. One of her best friends in Mercedes Mone who very clearly wants to feud with her in AEW. Anyway, the best answer to the question is that she has a decision to make. In her case there are many things to think about, including the offer made to keep her, the reality is that her spot here will be her spot and if she leaves she will at least have a chance at a much higher spot.”
Meltzer previously reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the only thing he has been told regarding Bayley is that she has “a big decision to make.”
Bayley was also recently featured in advertising for WWE’s upcoming SummerSlam tryout alongside Shawn Michaels, Nattie, Je’Von Evans, and Robert Stone. However, the OnLocation website has since updated the graphics for the tryout, replacing Bayley with an image of Ivy Nile.
