Triple H details how Brock Lesnar is mentoring Oba Femi behind the scenes
Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi are headed toward a grudge match at WWE SummerSlam. But behind the scenes, Lesnar is working closely with Femi to help him develop into a huge star.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque appeared on WWE Radio ahead of SummerSlam and revealed how closely Lesnar and Femi are working together backstage. Lesnar sees something “special” in Femi and will spend hours with him before shows giving him advice.
“He’d probably suplex me for saying this, but Brock is hands-on with Oba Femi,” Levesque said on Busted Open Radio. “He’s seen something special there, and he’s like, ‘Okay, kid. Come with me and I’m going to teach you — here’s all the things you gotta learn.’ He brings him into his room in the afternoon, they sit for hours and talk about this stuff.
“It’s that level of stuff that brings this next generation up and I think will take it to the next level. I’m excited to see it. For every star that we have now sitting at the top, there’s a guy underneath them — an Oba, a Trick [Williams], a Carmelo [Hayes], Je’Von [Evans]. All these people that are sitting underneath them and soaking up this knowledge. And I think that’s going to make this next generation thrive.”
Along with Lesnar, Levesque named Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins as top stars who are invested in helping out the next generation.
Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi Hell in a Cell match —
The in-ring rivalry between Lesnar and Femi should be settled when they face off in a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam night one this Saturday (August 1). Lesnar’s one-time home state of Minnesota is hosting the event.
Going into this rubber match, Lesnar and Femi have a 1-1 record against each other. Femi won at WrestleMania before Lesnar evened things up at Clash in Italy. Despite winning WWE’s King of the Ring tournament, Femi chose to face Lesnar at SummerSlam instead of getting the World title shot he’s owed.
