Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods release ‘Daybreak’ video ahead of free agency
As they prepare to enter free agency, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods released a new video on social media today.
The animated video is titled “Daybreak” and was put together by artist Jonathan Davenport. It features two unicorns, representing Kingston & Woods, breaking out of the circus. After using their horns to break through the door, Kingston & Woods transform into animated versions of themselves, heading off into post-WWE life. The video did not reveal their next move, but it’s widely expected that Kingston & Woods will end up in AEW after entering free agency. Their 90-day clauses expire around the first week of August.
A reference to fellow New Day member Big E is included in the video. Big E remains with WWE in a broadcasting role after having to retire from the ring due to a broken neck. In the video, a unicorn with a broken horn gives a nod to the other two and lets them know that it’s okay to leave without him.
Kingston & Woods’ releases were first reported on May 2. They chose to depart WWE after being asked to restructure their deals at a pay cut.

We haven’t heard too much from either Kingston & Woods since their first statements after being released, but Woods (Austin Creed) did collaborate with AEW star Kenny Omega for an article published by video game website Giant Bomb on July 21. Along with ranking their top video games of 2025, Woods gave an update on what he’s been doing during his “permanent vacation” from WWE.
“Taking a full ass break for the first time in 22 years. It’s been great getting to relax,” Woods said. “It’s summer, kids are out of school, have been going on hella vacations, and are enjoying just existing and sleeping well.”
New Day are one of the most decorated tag teams in WWE history and could provide a boost to the AEW tag team division if they do end up joining the promotion. The AEW Tag Team titles are currently held by Adam Copeland & Christian Cage, who will defend the belts against The Young Bucks at All In on August 30.
