Chris Sabin comments on Motor City Machine Guns AEW debut
Debuting for AEW in his home state of Michigan was a career highlight for Chris Sabin.
The same week their 90-day clauses expired after being released from WWE, Motor City Machine Guns (Sabin & Alex Shelley) debuted for AEW on Thursday’s episode of Collision. They kicked off the show in Detroit, Michigan and later took part in an angle where they assisted the Bang Bang Gang against the Death Riders. Sabin sent out a tweet today reacting to the moment and thanking the fans for making it so special.
“Well, last night is certainly in the running for all time favorite career moments for me,” he wrote. “Unbelievable moment. Indescribable feeling. THANK YOU!”
One of the best in-ring tag teams of the past 20 years, Motor City Machine Guns have held gold in TNA, ROH, WWE, NJPW, and more. They joined WWE in 2024 but only had a relatively short run with the company before being released this April in WWE’s post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts.

It’s unconfirmed but highly expected that the AEW tag team division will soon be getting another boost with the addition of New Day’s Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods, who also departed WWE shortly after WrestleMania. The duo released a social media video this week hyping their impending free agency.
Adam Copeland & Christian Cage are the current champions of the AEW tag team division. They’re set to defend against The Young Bucks at All In on August 30.
