Turn takes place following six-woman tag match at WWE SummerSlam
The Bella Twins and Paige are no longer on good terms.
After Jacy Jayne pinned Paige in the six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam, Nikki Bella turned against Brie’s former tag team partner, attacking her from behind. Brie Bella, who appeared to injure her shoulder during the match, stood and watched as Nikki laid out Paige with the Rack Attack 2.0. As the twins exited the ring, Nikki said that no one was going to take her spot.
A last minute replacement
Nikki injured her foot in the weeks leading to WrestleMania 42, putting her status for the show in question. Eventually, it was revealed she wouldn’t be cleared. However, she did have a replacement: the returning Paige, who in her first match back with WWE teamed with Brie to win a fatal four-way match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles.
The duo were successful as champions, frequently defending them over the next several months until they lost to Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid during the most recent episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event. On last week’s episode of SmackDown, Nikki made her return, setting up the six-woman tag match for Minneapolis.
