Chelsea Green has message for Michael Hayes after WWE SummerSlam win
Chelsea Green finally earned the opportunity to clapback at Michael Hayes’ sentiments towards her on WWE Unreal. The new interim Women’s Champion addressed the remarks, thanking him for the unexpected boost.
Following her interim Women’s Championship win at SummerSlam, Sam Roberts asked Green on WWE Now about the lack of faith in her perception as a top tier talent.
“Screw them,” stated Green.
Green added that she agreed how Unreal influenced fans to rally behind her. And especially after Hayes’ Unreal comments about her ‘making stars’ but not being one herself.
“Yes, yes, I have thought that since the minute that Season 1 Episode 3 of Unreal came out. I thought ‘Oh, this is not going to be good for the office but I love it.’ Hello! I’m getting all this love for just being me, for doing nothing out of the ordinary, for literally just showing up to work, doing my job and going home. Unfortunately, for the office that aired, everyone loved it and now here we are three seasons later. I mean Unreal Season 3 just came out and it reignited that passion from the fans like I know it did. I know it did. I felt it. I have felt it all weekend, I have felt it all year, I felt it for three years. I really felt it when I won the US Title but it has exploded since then. Exploded.”
“And I thank Michael Hayes for that,” added Green.
During the interaction, Green discussed the transition of her WWE run since her 2023 return.
On SummerSlam Sunday, Green won the interim WWE Women’s Championship in a ladder match featuring Lash Legend, Tiffany Stratton, Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill.
