AEW x CMLL Semana Internacional live results: Kyle Fletcher vs. Mascara Dorada
AEW and CMLL will present a joint show from Arena Mexico on Tuesday, August 4. The show will air on MyAEW.com.
Kyle Fletcher will take on Mascara Dorada in what is billed as the night’s main event. Kevin Knight will put the AEW TNT Championship on the line against Titan. ROH World Champion Bandido will defend against Barbaro Cavernario.
In a lightning match, Soberano Jr. will face Komander. The NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Championships will also be on the line as Los Hermanos Chavez defend against DOUKI and Yujiro Takahashi of House of Torture.
The Don Callis Family’s Brian Cage, Volador Jr., El Clon, and Hechicero against Último Guerrero, Neón, Xelhua, and Zandokan Jr. Austin Aries will face Esfinge. Los Hermanos Calavera will take on The Swirl. Hyan and Maya World will team against Candela and Kira, while Max Star faces Leon Cage.

Our show opened with the CMLL commentary crew welcoming us to tonight to the show, as Carlos Cabrera and Ivan Salguero were inside the ring to set the stage for this special night. They talked about the main event of Kyle Fletcher from AEW versus CMLL’s Mascara Dorada, as well as the NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Title match featuring Los Hermanos Chavez vs. The House of Torture. Cabrera and Salguero stated that all fans were welcome to Arena Mexico to enjoy CMLL’s International Week.
Max Star vs. Leon Cage
Cage, representing Britain’s RevPro promotion made his way down to the ring, ready to take on Max Star from CMLL.
Omar “Grako” Palacios was our official for this opener, contested under Lightning Rules, with a 10 minute time limit.
Leon started off with a chinlock, followed by the armbar on Max Star, who immediately escaped and applied a crucifix pin for the two-count. We got an early stalemate between the two as Max attempted a hurricanrana, but Leon cartwheeled. Leon took advantage and sent Max Star out of the ring and took him down with a tope suicida between the middle ropes.
Back in the ring, Max Star got Leon with an armdrag as he blocked a shot from his foe. The kick from Max Star led to a springboard tornillo into an armdrag. Leon retreated to ringside, but fell victim to a split-legged moonsaultg from Max Star, with time nearing the 5 minute mark. Leon got Max with a single-leg dropkick for the near-fall. Leon chopped down Max Star to a loud set of boos from the Arena Mexico crowd. Another shot to the chest brought down more jeers as we reached five minutes into this Lightning Match. Max rebounded from the ropes and hit the enzuigiri to send Leon to the outside. He followed that up with a huge dive over the top ropes onto Leon at ringside.
Max sent Leon back into the ring and hit the springboard moonsault for a close two-count and four minutes left here. Cage went for a moonsault, but Max caught him. Turned into a pin attempt by Cge, but Max reversed that into an unsuccessful pin. Leon delivered the modified Falcon Arrow for the two-count as he went up top afterwards. With under three to go, Max intercepted Leon and stunned him long enough for the top-rope hurricanrana. The cover, but Leon kicked out at two. Max Star went to the top rope for high risk action, but Leon caught him for the Spanish Fly. Max rolled out of the ring and Leon responded with the high risk moonsault over the ringpost and to a standing Max Star.
Leon threw Max back into the ring and connected with the Phoenix Splash. The cover, and the three with 1:17 left on the clock.

The beauty of doing these shows outside the usual WWE & AEW weekly shows is getting introduced to exctiting new talents and I really loved what I got to see from Leon Cage and Max Star in this ten-minute opener. Just a nice, fast-paced opener to get the action started here.

Maya World & Hyan vs. Candela & Kira
This match was contested under the Lightning Match rules, with 15 minutes on the clock and AEW’s Aubrey Edwards as the official.
Hyan and Candela got this match started with a collar and elbow tie-up. Hyan missed with the chop as Candela responded with a shove. A kick to the gut by Hyan led to some acrobatic dodging between the two. Standing side headlock by Candela, as the hurricanrana was block by Hyan. Sunset flip by Candela as Kira connected with the splash. Hyan missed on the kick as she hit Maya by accident. Maya tagged in as she and Hyan got a nice double team move on a prone Kira in their corner. Hyan and Maya hit a double big boot on Candela. This was followed by the tiger feint kick on both Candela and Kira. The cover, but no three just yet.
Suplex by Maya to Candela as the Arena Mexico faithful was clearly on the side of the CMLL Amazonas. On the apron, Kira caught Maya in a rolling Stunner. In the ring, Kira hit Hyan with a dropkick right to the spine. Tope suicida by Kira took both Maya and Hyan out. Not to be outdone, Candela connected with a tornillo onto everyone. Candela looked impressive with the codebreaker on Hyan, as Kira’s Code Red wasn’t enough to keep Maya down. All four women were in the ring now as Kira and Candela had Hyan and Maya down and out. Double moonsaults by Kira and Candela couldn’t connect, as the two fell vicitm to stereo dropkicks by Hyan and Maya.
Still with all four women in the ring, double trouble spear and dropkick by Hyan and Maya still wasn’t enough to get the three. Both teams exchanged strikes, which ended with Maya left alone after Hyan was taken out of the equation. Maya tripped up Candela and hit the slingshot legdrop, followed by the dropkick to the face. Maya barrelled into Candela with a cannonball. Back inside the ring, Hyan loaded up Kira onto the top rope and left her trapped in the tree of woe. Missed dropkick as Kira connected with the huge moonsault instead. The cover, and the huge upset win for CMLL’s finest with 5:54 left.

This was a great women’s tag match and I love that the Lightning Rules appear to be a recurring element for tonight’s matches. It helps make things excting, such as what we saw here in this tag match. Great stuff.

The Swirl (Lee Johnson & Blake Christian) vs. Los Hermanos Calavera (Calavera Jr. I & Calavera Jr. II)
Johnson & Christian didn’t waste time in the Lightning Match as they went after Los Hermanos Calavera as the bell rang. The Swirl left Calavera I at their mercy with combination attacks. Christian went after the mask of Calavera I’s mask until Calavera II made the save. It was now time for the Calaveras to fight back as they sent Christian out of the ring and caught Johnson with the disorienting double kick. Christian sldi back in and immediately got hit with the double backflip dropkicks by Los Hermanos Calavera. The cover, but Christian kicked out at one.
Calavera I & II chopped the chest of Christian, as they then tied him up for the assisted leg drop. Lee Johnson stepped in to break the count. The Swirl used their speedy dropkicks and moonsaults to leave the splash and DDT on Calavera I. In the ring, Calavera II got hit with the 450 Splash by Christian for the near-fall. Calavera II hit an over the top rope splash on Christian as Calavera I followed suit with a moonsault on Johnson from the elevated ramp. Back in the ring, all four men were in the ring and recovered with simultaneous kip-ups at 8:35 on the clock. Corner to corner, the Calaveras had the Swirl trapped with assisted cannonballs. The cover, but Blake Christian got a foot on the rope to break the count.
Christian and one of the Calaveras fought on the ramp, but the handspring cutter from Christian took his foe out. In the ring, The Swirl connected with the double team piledriver move, but they couldn’t get the win. Christian got pushed out of the ring, as Johnson was rolled-up by Calavera II for the upset win with 6:25 on the clock.
Los Hermanos Calavera def. The Swirl via pinfall
One hell of a tag match between two fantastic tag teams. Breathless action from beginning to end and another upset win here.

Austin Aries vs. Esfinge
Representing MLW was Aries, up against CMLL’s National Light Heavyweight Champion, Esfinge.
10 minute time limit for this one, as per the established Lightning Rules.
Stalemate to start off, but Aries got the advantage three minutes in with the cannonball to the outside. He then threw Esfinge into the barricade and soaked in the boos of the Arena Mexico faithful. He threw Esfinge in the ring and hit a jumping elbow on him for the two-count. Aries attempted to rip at Esfinge’s mask but couldn’t rip it off. However, he still had the upper hand with the spinning elbow to Esfinge. Aries again tried to grab at Esfinge’s mask as he got him with the big boot to the back of the head. Hard chop to the chest by Aries, but the 540 Kick by Esfinge changed the momentum of the match with less than five to go. Huge missile dropkick by Esfinge, but Aries kicked out at two. Esfinge threw Aries halfway across the ring twice with monkey flips from opposite corners. Tope suicida by Esfinge found its Aries-shaped target at ringside, which sent him flyig into the barricade.
In the ring, Esfinge rattled Aries with a series of kicks, but that wasn’t enough for the three. As Aries rolled to the apron, Esfinge stalked his foe, blocked a run into the turnbuckle, but sent Aries for the ride instead. The leap to the apron, but Aries caught Esfinge for the Death Valley Driver onto the hardest part of the ring. The pin, but not quite the win for Aries. With less than two minutes left in the match, the pace quickened considderably as the two exchanged clotheslines on opposite corners. Esfinge kicked Aries in the thigh and sent him face first. Big splash, but Esfinge whiffed as Aries rolled out of the way. Dropkick into the corner and a Brainbuster led to the three with 1:03 left on the clock.

I thought this match was okay, but I can’t say I enjoy Austin Aries’ work in the ring as of late. Not quite as good as his opponent here and the rest of the stars we’ve seen on the show so far. Still, it wasn’t to any big detriment for this one.
