WWE files new trademark for expected NXT call-up
This week, WWE made a new trademark filing providing further proof that the company is calling up Lola Vice to the main roster.
A trademark for the term “Vice City” was filed by WWE on August 4. That’s the same day Vice lost to Women’s Champion Kendal Grey in an Underground match on NXT. Vice then bid farewell to NXT following the match and was greeted by her boyfriend Damian Priest.
Vice, real name Valerie Loureda, was a star for Bellator MMA before starting her WWE career in NXT. She is from Miami and is of Cuban heritage. Her NXT name and this “Vice City” phrase she’s been associated with are a nod to her Miami roots.
The goods and services section of the trademark application uses WWE’s standard language relating to performances by a professional wrestler:
- Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.
Lola Vice expected to join WWE SmackDown —
Our Bryan Alvarez first reported last month that the decision to call Vice up had already been made. She is expected to land on the SmackDown roster, which is where Priest performs. Vice joined WWE in 2022 and has competed on NXT and in AAA. She held the NXT Women’s Championship once, along with being a one-time AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion.
