Chelsea Green addresses Triple H comparing her character to Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston
At WWE SummerSlam 2026, Chelsea Green defeated a few other women to crown herself the new interim WWE Women’s Champion.
Despite entering the match as the underdog and very low chances of winning the title, Green defied all odds and earned the gold for herself. Following her championship win, Green appeared on Complex Graps, where she described meeting with Triple H and being compared to Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston.
Bryan and Kingston also entered their matches as underdogs and won World titles at WrestleMania 30 and 36. “I didn’t until people started saying that to me after Unreal season one came out. I had no idea. You would be so narcissistic to be comparing yourself to somebody so incredible.
“But once the world told me that, and actually Triple H pulled me aside and told me that, and he compared me to the likes of Daniel Bryan and Kofi, I was like, ‘Wow.’ What an amazing group to be put into,” Green said.
“The fact that whatever comes my way is coming my way because the fans have literally strong-armed creative and the company into giving me these things, I don’t want to downplay my hard work, but at the end of the day, they have been steering the ship for the past couple of months. They steered it and docked it at SummerSlam in this ladder match, winning the title. That’s so incredible to me.”
With Ripley now out with surgery, Green is expected to turn into a full-time champion once Ripley is stripped of her championship.
Chelsea Green talks about the reaction she received just moments after winning the WWE Women’s title
In the same interview, Green opened up about the reception she received just moments after winning the title at SummerSlam.
“I got a text from Mick Foley the other day. Obviously, everyone knows I love Mick Foley, but I didn’t realize how much this also meant to the old-school guys. X-Pac said he shed some tears for me.
“Torrie Wilson was shedding some tears. Leilani Kai, Mick Foley, there are all these people who, if you asked me 12 years ago, ‘Will Mick Foley, X-Pac, Leilani and Torrie, and all these Hall of Famers, be texting you, telling you that they were crying and sending you pictures of them crying?’ I would have thought you were crazy,” Green added.
“My character work got me here, and that’s what a lot of them did. They used their character to get over, and the fans pushed them and steered the ship. Now here we are. Here we are in 2026, and Chelsea Green is your women’s champion.”
As of now, there are no confirmed updates on Green’s status as a champion.
