Kevin Owens reveals when he wants WWE Championship match vs. CM Punk
Kevin Owens has revealed when and where he wants to receive his WWE Championship match against CM Punk.
On the August 7, 2026 edition of SmackDown, Owens spoke with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis backstage and said he wants his title shot to take place on the August 21, 2026 edition of SmackDown, scheduled for Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
“Nick, before you go, though. I know where I want that title match. Toronto, August 21st,” Owens said to Aldis in the segment.
“I’ll make some calls,” Aldis responded.
After this interaction, Owens and Sami Zayn spoke about Owens having been entered into the number one contender’s match at SummerSlam at the last minute. Owens won the four-way match against Zayn, Finn Balor, and Gunther to earn a shot at the WWE title in the opening match of SummerSlam night two.
The last time Owens wrestled in Toronto was his match against Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber 2025 on March 1, 2025. As for Punk, the last time he wrestled in Toronto was his World Heavyweight Championship match against AJ Styles on the January 26, 2026 episode of Raw.
