More details on departure of WWE executive with close ties to Triple H | Exclusive
Dave Meltzer provided more details on Patrick Dooley’s departure from WWE in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
It was reported earlier this week that Dooley, WWE’s Senior Vice President of Global Strategy & Creative Operations, quietly left the company in July. Dooley had worked for WWE since 2018 and is said to have been Triple H’s “number two” on non-creative matters.
In Friday’s edition of the newsletter, Meltzer wrote that the decision for Dooley to leave the company came at the Ari Emanuel-Mark Shapiro level of TKO and is said to have surprised those in WWE.
Meltzer wrote:
“Dooley had a close relationship with Levesque, particularly on all non-creative matters. He came to the company in 2018 at Director of Global Strategy and was a key part of the acquisition of AAA and getting AAA its FOX Latin America television deal. The only thing we know is that this decision came from the top, as in the Emanuel/Shapiro level and that those in WWE were surprised.”
