There are people within AEW talking about Ace Austin.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer were discussing Austin’s loss to Claudio Castagnoli in the first round of the Continental Challenge Cup on Saturday’s Collision. Meltzer said he believes Austin did himself “a world of favors” with his performance.
Meltzer said:
“I think Ace Austin, as far as Ace Austin’s standing, I think he did himself a world of favors with this performance because people are talking about him, including in the company, being very impressed by him.”
Meltzer continued:
“I don’t know that it’s gonna get him a bunch of wins, but I do think it will get him some television time and, you know, being thought of as, ‘Hey, we got a TV match for Mike Bailey or whatever, and we need a win, and hey, we know Ace Austin, he can do that job great.'”
Castagnoli advances to the quarterfinals of the Continental Challenge Cup with his win over Austin. The quarterfinal matchups will be determined by a blind draw.
Ace Austin’s win-loss record in AEW
Austin has not been overly successful in AEW singles matches and, in his first year with the company, has gone 1-9 in one-on-one bouts. His only win was over Bryan Keith on the October 25, 2025 edition of Collision. As a member of the Bang Bang Gang, however, Austin holds a 4-3 record in tag team bouts.
