Ric Flair ‘not renewing a relationship’ with former wife Wendy Barlow
After sending out an oddly worded tweet regarding his former wife Wendy Barlow, Ric Flair has clarified the situation.
The 77-year-old Flair made a post on Sunday claiming that Barlow had come “running back” to him. But he followed up on that this morning by stating that the two are not renewing their romantic relationship, which ended on amicable terms in 2024. Instead, Barlow has just moved to the Tampa area — where Flair lives — so that she’ll be able to take care of her parents who are in poor health.
Flair wrote (cleaned up for readability):
- Wendy and I are not renewing a relationship. We are renewing a 34 year friendship. She has her own residence and I have mine. She is coming to Tampa primarily to take care of her parents, who are both in their 80s and not in good health. Wendy will continue to do what she does best, travel the world, and help people who are struggling in other countries. I’ll resume what I do and love most which is attending public events and signing autographs at meet & greets.
- Please don’t turn something positive into something negative. If that’s all you have to do, find something better to do. The one part I am sure of, which she reminds me whenever we speak, is that she will always be there for me if I get sick again, and I was sick for two years! Her whole family took care of me. Find someone else to hate on! Wendy and I are good.
Long before becoming a couple, Flair and Barlow worked together on-screen in WCW when Barlow played a maid character named Fifi. They got engaged in 2016 and had a wedding ceremony in 2018, considering themselves husband and wife despite never legally getting married. Flair and Barlow split in 2022, then briefly reconnected after that before ending things in 2024.
Flair was married four times prior to the relationship with Barlow.
Ric Flair’s 2017 health scare —
Flair has always spoken highly about how Barlow helped him through his 2017 health scare, where Flair came very close to dying after a bowel blockage caused multiple complications. During the time he was hospitalized, Barlow slept in the ICU every night, refusing to leave his side.
Though he very rarely appears for the promotion, Flair remains under contract with AEW. He is represented by Steven Solomon Sports Group for public appearances.
