Retired WWE star reveals condition that could bring him out of retirement
AJ Styles addressed the possibility of another match following WWE retirement, and how his sons could influence that decision.
On The AJ Styles Show, the WWE Hall of Famer explained that an indie match would not be in his interest. However, if it was a major match involving Avery Styles and his other two sons he would consider it. He also expressed interest in making appearances as a special guest referee or managerial role.
“But how long is it going to take my son or sons to get in the position where I’m able to do this show with them that matters? If it doesn’t matter, I’ll be honest with you, I’m probably not going to come back for an indie show. I mean, even if it’s to wrestle with my boys. I probably do not want to do that. I don’t mind being a special guest and a manager kind of thing, but if I do come back, hopefully I’m not 60 and it’s on a big show. I would definitely let, who wouldn’t, what father wouldn’t want to come back and tag with his sons? So I don’t know if that opportunity will come because it depends how long it’s going to take him.”
Styles has briefly replaced Terry Taylor’s spot as producer and coach on NXT as he recovers from knee surgery. The WWE legend has frequently visited the Performance Center since retirement to assist upcoming WWE talents.
His son, Avery, officially made his wrestling debut in June. Styles is focused on helping him hone his craft and potentially be ready for a WWE tryout someday.
