F4W NEWSLETTER: Figure Four Weekly: Hogan takes first step towards WWE return

Nearly three years after being fired from the company, Hulk Hogan's return to WWE took a major step forward on Sunday. After Hogan was spotted flying into Cleveland -- which was apparently a failed attempt to avoid him being seen coming to Pittsburgh, where WWE's Extreme Rules pay-per-view was being held -- WWE announced on Sunday afternoon that Hogan had been reinstated into their Hall of Fame.

WON NEWSLETTER: (July 23, 2018): ROH/NJPW to run MSG, Hogan reinstated into WWE HOF, more

A look at the ROH/NJPW planned show in Madison Square Garden and the huge ramifications this show could have on the industry is the lead story of a big double-issue of the Observer.

The lead story goes into how ROH/NJPW got the date back after WWE blocked it, why those at Sinclair were always confident they would be able to run the date and their big ace on why they have leverage on WWE.

Find out who was announced, who wasn't and why, as well as ticket prices, and what significant milestone this show can reach that no non-WWE show in history ever has.

We are sorry to report the death of Frederick Seawright aka Brickhouse Brown today at the age of 57. Seawright had been battling brain cancer for some time and his death was not unexpected. He was just honored earlier this year by the Cauliflower Alley Club given their courage award. Seawright was a protege and close friend of Terry Funk. He was best known in Tennessee where he was a headliner and feuded with Jerry Lawler. He was a great talker in particular and a very underrated heel who, due to his size, never got much of a break elsewhere.

UPDATE: Brian Blair tweeted on Saturday that Seawright has yet to pass away: "Thank you so much George, but stop the tape. Brickhouse is Mother Victoria just called me to inform me that Brick was still alive and woke up, somehow, last night and said he was hungry. Stay tuned as this is not over, unbelievable! I'll write what happened on my Facebook page."

ROH has had interest in C.M. Punk returning, presumably for the MSG show, but we're told that is a long shot. But feelers have been sent.

Here's my appearance on Talk is Jericho talking about Bruiser Brody with a lot of stories that probably haven't been talked about previously.

William Corgan talks tonight's Nick Aldis vs. Flip Gordon match. He noted that the match is in the same building as the May 7, 1989 match with Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat which at the time was considered one of the greatest matches of all-time.

AXS TV will be airing the last three G-1 Climax finals tonight. At 8 p.m. they will air the 2016 final with Kenny Omega vs. Hirooki Goto. At 9 p.m. they will air the 2017 final with Omega vs. Tetsuya Naito. At about 12:30 a.m. (after the Legacy Fighting Championships) they will air the 2015 finals with Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Shinsuke Nakamura. All three matches are classics.

For WWE house shows this weekend, Braun Strowman is not advertised on Raw shows except for Monday. Daniel Bryan is advertised for all the Smackdown shows. WWE has told us that Jeff Hardy will be appearing at the weekend shows so the injury angle they shot at Smackdown isn't carrying over to house shows. Randy Orton isn't advertised on any shows this weekend except TV. That would be strange if only because St. Louis is tomorow night and that's a home game for him.

  • Titus O'Neil as a follow-up to what he wrote earlier in the week, wrote: "I'm nowhere near perfect, make mistakes as well as I have had to ask for forgiveness and give it as well. We can all grow in various areas of our lives. Accept full responsibility when you're wrong and in due season through actions, forgiveness and respect comes."
  • WWE is advertising Ronda Rousey for the 9/3 Raw show in Columbus, OH at the Schottenstein Center. Also advertised is Braun Strowman & Bobby Lashley & Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens & Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre & Baron Corbin in a match that likely won't take place. (thanks to Devin Schultz)

  • David Branch vs. Ronaldo Jacare Souza is the first fight announced for the 11/3 show in Madison Square Garden.

  • WWN has started a $9.99 per month subscription service where you get all of their PPVs for the monthly price which starts with tonight's Shine show. So Shine, Evolve, and FIP events are all for a monthly price.
  • Impact announced Scarlett Bordeaux debuting with the promotion soon.
