Will Ospreay resting up, off NJPW Road to Power Struggle tour

Due to a rib injury, Will Ospreay is off New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Road to Power Struggle tour.

NJPW announced the news overnight, with them noting that Ospreay will miss the tour to “focus on the NEVER Openweight Championship match” that he’s having against Taichi at Power Struggle in Osaka on November 3. Taichi also won’t be wrestling on the Road to Power Struggle tour because of Ospreay’s absence.

The matches that Ospreay and Taichi are missing are from October 19 to November 1.

Ospreay’s injury happened when he landed badly during his match against Chris Ridgeway for Revolution Pro Wrestling on Sunday. Dave Meltzer reported yesterday that an X-ray on Ospreay’s ribs showed that he didn’t suffer any breaks, and Ospreay tweeted that he’s okay and just needs time to rest up.

Ospreay also tweeted about having to miss the Road to Power Struggle events: “Once again I’m really sorry guys. This is up there with the worst pain I’ve ever been in. Promise once I’m ready to come back, I’m picking up where I left off.”
