AEW announces signing of Eddie Kingston

After impressing on the microphone and in the ring in his debut appearance for the company, Eddie Kingston is now officially part of the AEW roster.

AEW announced today that the 38-year-old Kingston has signed with the promotion: "Welcome to the team #MadKing #EddieKingston is #AllElite #SignEddieKingston is now #EddieKingstonIsSigned"

Kingston responded to AEW's announcement on Twitter: "The #StrayDog is off the chain."

Kingston appeared on Dynamite last week and answered Cody's TNT Championship open challenge. The hashtag "#SignEddieKingston" gained traction on Twitter after the match.

Kingston also cut two promos last week, one coming before the match and the other being a post-match online exclusive reacting to his loss. Kingston said there's nothing else in life he loves doing besides wrestling and promised that -- whether or not AEW brought him back -- he would keep going.

In his pre-match promo, Kingston challenged Cody to make their match no disqualification. It featured a spot where Kingston powerbombed Cody onto thumbtacks

Kingston is the second wrestler to be signed by AEW after facing Cody in a TNT title open challenge. Ricky Starks was also signed to the promotion following his match against Cody last month.

This week's open challenge saw Cody retain the TNT title against independent wrestler Warhorse.
