AEW Dynamite live results: Coffin match, Storm vs. Shafir, Will Ospreay returns
AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, March 18 will feature the fallout from Revolution.
This week’s show takes place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. Three matches were advertised in advance for the episode.
Darby Allin’s rivalry with The Dogs will continue as he faces Gabe Kidd in a Coffin match. The bout was made after Kidd demanded it during the post-show media scrum following Revolution. Allin, Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong defeated the Dogs on the pay-per-view.
Toni Storm and Marina Shafir will also meet in a No Holds Barred match. Storm beat Shafir at Revolution after biting her and wrapping her up in a small package. Following the match, Storm was involved in a pull apart with Shafir’s longtime training partner/friend, Ronda Rousey.
Will Ospreay is scheduled to return to the ring for the first time since Forbidden Door 2025 when he takes on Blake Christian.
Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern.
AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcome us alongside Tony Schiavone & Bryan Danielson, as they throw it to a huge highlight package of all that went down at Revolution. Before the opening contest, we learn that Timeless Toni Storm was ruled out tonight due to an attack backstage earlier today and will be replaced by Mina Shirakawa in the No Holds Barred Match with Marina Shafir.
Will Ospreay vs. Blake Christian
(While some might criticize the amount of offense Christian got in this one, in this case, I’d say it makes sense, as Ospreay has been out since September. This was a good first test for Ospreay to get some of the ring rust off, to which there appeared to be none whatsoever. He broke out a couple of his greatest hits, but it was ultimately Christian who did most of the flips in this. I know Ospreay is going for revenge with Moxley, but he’s so unbelievably over with the fans that he needs to be AEW World Champion this year, All In would be the obvious choice.)
No entrance for Christian, as Ospreay is met with a massive reaction from the crowd for his in-ring return. Danielson talked about how more invasive Ospreay’s neck surgery was than his in 2014 and it took Ospreay much shorter of recovery time. Snap early hurricanrana sent Christian outside, but he swept out the legs from Ospreay on the apron and hit a leaping splash. Back inside, Christian tried another cazadora splash, but Ospreay countered with a roll through high boot. Christian again went outside, this time being met with a slingshot cross-body. Taking too long to high five fans, Christian recovered with a corkscrew dive and wrenching the neck of Ospreay on the top of the barricade, but missed a double stomp, allowing Ospreay to connect on a leaping forearm. Quickly back inside, Pip Pip Cheerio hits for a near fall, but Christian responded with a neckbreaker/DDT combo.
Christian gets in a few cheap shots as the referee tends to Ospreay before zoning in on the neck. Wall walk enzugiri from Ospreay leads to a handspring corkscrew kick for two. Ospreay missed a standing corkscrew splash, allowing Christian to nail a double stomp and running DDT through the corner of the ropes to the floor. Back inside, springboard 450 Splash hits for two, as well as a handspring Cutter got another near fall. Christian missed a Sliced Bread, ducked a Hook Kick, fired off a pump knee and got his standing Sliced Bread for two. Christian takes off the arm wrap, flips off Ospreay, as he signaled for a Hidden Blade, but Ospreay hit one of his own to turn Christian inside out. Ospreay connected with one proper to the back of the head and got the win.
Post-match, Ospreay took the mic and told the fans he bloody missed them. Ospreay called out Jon Moxley, saying the biggest difference between them is he doesn’t need a weapon to snatch someone’s neck, he can do it with his bare f’n hands. The music for the Death Riders hit, as Moxley walks out with Wheeler Yuta for their match through the crowd, but Ospreay sprinted at them and the fight is on. Yuta gets taken out with ease, as Ospreay chucked a trash can at Moxley, taking him to the ring and teasing a Tiger Driver. PAC blindsided Ospreay before he could and applied the Brutalizer. Security and referees rushed the ring and got him to release the hold.
Match Result: Will Ospreay defeated Blake Christian
As the music for the Bang Bang Gang hit for the next match and PAC was being taken away by security, Ospreay sprinted up the ramp and leapt off the stage onto PAC. The two brawled to the back, as this led to the bell sounding to start our next contest.
AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta vs. Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson & Ace Austin w/Austin Gunn)
(Solid TV tag match, as the Bang Bang Gang had their hope spots, with Austin especially looking good in the comeback. There was simply no way Moxley & Yuta were dropping this one, as I will always appreciate whenever Bryan Danielson is on commentary during a Yuta match, he will refuse to put him over and always roast him any chance he gets.)
Moxley & Yuta attacked to start, but the tables were quickly turned by Austin & Robinson, who took turns dishing out corner punches to Yuta. Danielson is so pleased with how ugly Yuta is with his head shaved and Excalibur said he previously looked like a sheepdog fell into an oil slick. An eye rake allowed Moxley to tag in and mow down his rival from his past, going after Robinson’s right eye. The two traded chops, as Robinson put the brakes on a suplex and hit one of his own. Austin made the tag and ramped up the pace with his speed, as a low shotgun dropkick into a kip up led to Austin doing a stalling Death Valley Driver on Yuta. Corkscrew plancha wiped out Moxley, but Austin opted to pose and resulted in being sent gut first into the steps.
Austin remained worked over, as Moxley sank in a crossface, placing Austin’s chain in his mouth in the process. Austin rolled to the ropes and fought back with a roundhouse back kick that put Moxley on spaghetti legs. Tag to Yuta, who cut-off the tag, but ate a sunset flip up kick, giving Robinson a chance to make the hot tag. House of fire was Robinson, who just mowed down Yuta before lighting him up with snap jabs. Daniel Garcia appeared on the apron, but was taken out by Gunn. Moxley tried a sneak attack on Robinson, but ate a Left Hand of God, as did Yuta. High stack powerbomb on Yuta, who just kicked out. Tag to Austin, who went up top, but missed a twisting senton, as Yuta got the knees up and tag to Moxley. Austin hit a wild springboard kick, went for the home run shot, only to run into a Yuta Busiaku Knee. Moxley popped Robinson with a Cutter, as Yuta followed with a dive outside. This left Moxley to lay out Austin with a swinging Death Rider for the win.
Match Result: Death Riders defeated Bang Bang Gang when Moxley pinned Austin
-Video package on tonight’s Coffin Match is shown and the history between Darby Allin & Gabe Kidd. We go backstage to Kidd, welcoming us to the end of Darby Allin, as he’s not waiting to get in the ring, meet him in the parking lot, you rat.

-Footage of Kenny Omega backstage after Revolution was shown, saying Swerve Strickland isn’t a danger to himself and when he thinks of danger, he thinks risks, so let’s roll the dice. Let us play some risk and asks Strickland to put his #1 Contender for the AEW World Title on the line, let’s put everything on the line. We’re told by commentary that by virture of beating Brody King at Revolution, Strickland indeed became the #1 Contender for the AEW World Title and we’ll see if Strickland responds.
Gabe Kidd pulled up backstage and leapt out of the way from an incoming car, which Darby Allin got out of and the two brawled with Kidd powerbombing Allin on the hood of his car. Kidd yelled that it’s time, but Allin went for the eyes, got his backpack and pulled out a rag with eether and put it over the face of Kidd before throwing him in the trunk of the car saying let’s ride. Allin backs the car up before gunning it and flipping it over, crawling out of the driver’s seat. All of a sudden, the roof pops open and Kidd falls down motionless, as Allin is limping, placing Kidd on a loading case, bringing him to the arena.
Darby Allin vs. Gabe Kidd – Coffin Match
(The match officially began after the pre-match vehicular assault from one competitor to another and we ended up getting a pretty damn good brawl. The visual of Kidd, who has been an absolute lunatic since joining AEW, in a straightjacket for this whole match, was quite the sight to see. I originally thought this would be a way for Kidd to get a win on Allin, but it’s clear that Allin is coming for MJF, so having him get some singles wins makes all the sense in the world.)
We go back to commentary, where the fans are quiet, until Allin brings Kidd to the ring on the case, as the bell officially sounds to start the match. Allin pulls out a straightjacket from the case and ties Kidd up in it (doesn’t get the buckled tied up), but right before he can deliver a skateboard shot, Kidd kicked Allin low and sent him into the ring steps, busting Allin open, as he bit at the forehead. The visual of Kidd’s mouth covered in Allin’s blood while in a straightjacket was pretty sick. Kidd opened up the coffin, the inside reading Pushing Up Daisies, as Kidd yelled that he loves this, smashing Allin’s fingers between the coffin. In the ring, Kidd bodyslams Allin on the skateboard wheels side up before taking him up in the corner, trying for an Avalanche Piledriver, but Allin bit free and hit an Avalanche Code Red. Allin finally fastens the straightjacket tight and hits a Scorpion Death Drop. Going up top, Kidd kicked the referee into the ropes to crotch Allin, allowing Kidd to hit a no hand powerslam and leaping enzugiri.
Kidd charged into Allin on the apron, as I think he was supposed to go flying into the coffin, but didn’t make it all the way. Kidd tried to slam the lid shut, but Allin got free and bit the nose, repositioning the coffin before heading back to the ring. Skateboard shot popped Kidd in the ribs and back repeatedly before multiple Coffin Drops connect. Allin dragged Kidd to the floor, quickly ran back inside and hit a Tope, sending Kidd into the coffin and the momentum caused the lid to fall, Allin wins one hell of a battle.
Post-match, Allin took the mic and said he’s going to hold that throttle until he sees God or the AEW World Championship, telling MJF that he’s coming.
Match Result: Darby Allin defeated Gabe Kidd
-We see footage of Jungle Jack Perry getting ready for the show tonight, knife and National Title in hand. He leaves his house with Luchasaurus pulling up in the Jurassic Express bus, as Perry holds a nut for his pet squirrel to come get before heading to the bus. They travel through California, stopping for gas even, before pulling up to the arena. Perry gets out with his bags saying Jurassic Express has arrived in Fresno and Revolution was a great night for him and his family, but tonight he teams with two guys he also considers family. The Young Bucks walk in and said it was a rough night at Revolution, but what example would they be setting for their kids if they just gave up? Instead, they’re going to fight back to the top and it starts tonight against RPG Vice and someone they thought was a friend, Kazuchika Okada. Luchasaurus yells out “B*tch!” as they go to commercial.

Swerve Strickland Responds to Kenny Omega
Prince Nana is in the ring and introduces us to Mr. Dangerous, the man who showed at Revolution against Brody King why he’s the Most Dangerous Man in AEW, Swerve Strickland. Power, Strickland said he went to war with Brody King, but the only winner is the one who has power. Of course he enjoyed beating King in his home town and brought up dealing with organizations who had power, from the independents to developmental. If it weren’t for The Young Bucks interfering in his match at Dynasty last year, he’d be a 2-time World Title. Strickland said this leads to Kenny Omega, as unbeknownst to him, Strickland is the new #1 Contender for the World Title, but what’s that mean if he doesn’t have the power to protect it? Omega doesn’t have the leverage in this, but he does have one thing that does interest Strickland, his power. Strickland doesn’t want Omega removed from power; he wants his power and block out anyone who thinks they can get it. If Omega wants a rematch with Strickland, offer up the EVP Status. To be clear, when Strickland beats him, he’ll become AEW’s new Executive Vice President.
-Renee Paquette is backstage with Speedball Mike Bailey, who said some people you can look at and see they’re a star, like Kevin Knight. But Bailey himself had to scratch and claw to get folks to believe in him like that, the mental toughness. Bailey brings up people like Kenny Omega, who started from nothing and fought his way to the top of AEW. It’s that kind of heart that makes Bailey believe in himself to be a winner.
AEW Trios Champion Speedball Mike Bailey vs. Mark Davis
(Hell of a match these two had, playing off the speed vs. size story incredibly well. I remember after Jake Doyle was injured, I feared that Davis would lose ring time as a result, but on the contrary, he’s been knocking it out of the park ever since. Bailey continues to be one of the most loved babyfaces on the roster and I know this Trios with Knight & Mistico should be fun, but I’d eventually love to see him challenge for a singles title in AEW.)
Bailey was out with Kevin Knight, both rocking their Mistico masks they wore at Revolution with their new Trios Champion partner. Davis wasted no time, charging at the bell and swigning wildly, but Bailey was there with a pump kick and running corner kick. Davis side-stepped a float over, but was sent to the apron, ate another boot, only he mowed down a charging Bailey and followed with a bodyslam/standing senton. Bailey fought back with a missile dropkick out of the corner and running Shooting Star Press for a one count. Davis rolled to the apron and ate a series of kicks, his legs swept out, as Bailey hit his signature Triangle Moonsault. Davis battled back on the apron and connected on a gnarly suplex, causing Bailey to go thud. Davis continued to maul Bailey, as he looked for a Razor’s Edge, but Bailey slipped to the apron. Davis brought Bailey up top, but Bailey slid out, kicked free and managed a huge sit-out powerbomb out of the corner for two. Bailey quickly up top and hit a massive Shooting Star Press, but again, Davis kicked out. They trade slaps, a battle that Davis wins, as he goes for the bounce back lariart, only Bailey took his head off with a roundhouse kick for the double down.
Both men rise, as Bailey fired off chops, only Davis never budged, instead waffled Bailey with a home run shot. Davis wanted his gut-wrench piledriver, but Bailey held on initially, got the hell chopped out of him, with Davis following with a BT Bomb. Sliding corner forearm hits, as Bailey slide out of another BT Bomb, got a spin kick and back slide for two. Davis popped up and hit an enzugiri before turning Bailey with a huge lariat. Gut-wrench piledriver connects, but Bailey somehow kicked out. Davis went for another, but Bailey got a snap hurricanrana pin for two. Moonsault double knees hits, followed by a spinning corner kick and Ultimate Weapon for the hard-fought win.
Match Result: Speedball Mike Bailey defeated Mark Davis
-Footage of a bloody MJF sitting backstage post Revolution is shown. Greatest Dog Collar Match of All Time, Greatest Ironman Match of All Time, Greatest Texas Death Match of All Time. They call him Mr. Revolution and the adrenaline has worn off, he feels every bump and bruise, but it doesn’t matter because he won, it was all worth it. Today he turned 30, Happy Birthday to him, he’s accomplished more than most Hall of Famers and he’s way ahead of schedule. Hangman Page was a huge speedbump in his way, but he’s off the board now, as MJF has 30 years left, as only one name will be regarded as the best wrestler in the world, one way ticket to GOAT status. The Wolf of Wrestling, Salt of the Earth, Generational Talent, The Big Hebrew, MJF. He’s going to do what the greatest athletes do and tells the camera guy to ask him his question. He’s asked what he’s going to do next and MJF screams he’s going to Disneyworld, giving a bloody kiss to the camera.

We go backstage to Kazuchika Okada & RPG Vice, who are laughing at Jack Perry & The Young Bucks who ever thought Okada was their family. Beretta said their bus is stupid, while Okada said he’s only loyal to one family, unlike Takeshita, who was shaking hands with Jon Moxley. Tonight, Okada & RPG Vice pick up a victory for the Don Callis Family. Beretta & Romero said this is for their fearless leader, we love you, Don.
Marina Shafir vs. Mina Shirakawa – No Holds Barred
(Easily the biggest win in Shirakawa’s AEW career and I don’t think a lot of people saw her taking this one once she was slotted in to replace Toni Storm. While the obvious signs point to Shafir being the one who attacked Storm (she never denied nor admitted it), I wouldn’t be shocked it if was someone completely different that’s revealed down the line. Not sure if this was a one-week absence for Storm or if she’ll be back soon, it did feel like a way to write her off TV for at least a little bit.)
Right before the show came on the air, Renee Paquette frantically approached Luther, who is having a meltdown outside of Timeless Toni Storm’s dressing room. Paquette is horrified when we see Mina Shirakawa tending to an unconscious Storm. We cut to Shafir saying what she did or did not due to Storm is no one’s business, but Shirakawa could suffer the same fate.
Shirakawa came to the ring with a barbed wire bat, bell sounded and she clipped Shafir with a shot to the leg, only that was it, Shafir ripped the bat away and slammed Shirakawa down, saying she didn’t need a bat. Ironically enough, Shafir then tired to use the bat, but Shirakawa dropkicked out the legs and lit Shafir up with kicks. Shirakawa brought out a bucket with bottles of champagne in it, but took too long, as Shafir kicked back and planted Shirakawa with a Urange. After rag-dolling her for several minutes, Shafir repeatedly slammed Shirakawa on a chair before popping open a bottle of bubbly, taking a swig. She misted Shirakawa, who finally started fighting back, hitting a dropkick and the bottle went flying.
Shirakawa tried for a chair shot, but Shafir hit a thrust kick to the ribs, only Shirakawa responded with almost a La Mistica on the chair. Top rope dropkick led to more chair shots to Shafir’s back, as Shirakawa hit a Sling Blade off the top for two. Shirakawa hits her Tornillo, but Shafir rolled through into Mother’s Milk. Shirakawa broke free by raking the eyes, so Shafir responded with a running boot to the face. Shafir set-up a table ringside, took Shirakawa to the apron, as we get a slugfest until Shafir hit a back suplex off the apron, but they landed awkwardly, Shafir took almost the entire table bump and Shirakawa missed completely for a brutal landing. Shirakawa somehow kicked out at two back inside. For some reason, the referee is backing Shafir off from corner strikes, despite this being a No Holds Barred Match, but it gave Shirakawa a chance to blast Shafir in the head with a champagne bottle followed with Storm Zero to get the upset win.
Match Result: Mina Shirakawa defeated Marina Shafir
-Renee Paquette is backstage with Andrade el Idolo and said he wants the AEW World Title. Jon Cruz interrupted with a briefcase and said it’s from MJF, holding a phone up with Don Callis on it, saying he’s going to need to accept the briefcase because he’s Don’s Money Man. Andrade asked if they’re working for MJF and Callis said Darby Allin has become a pest, so he agreed to take care of the problem and again called Andrade his Money Man. Andrade reluctantly accepted the pay-off, as Cruz thanked Callis and left.

AEW National Champion Jungle Jack Perry & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. AEW International Champion Kazuchika Okada & RPG Vice (Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero)
(The match itself was a PWG special for the California crowd, filled with action and babyfaces standing tall. The bigger story was the post-match and the announcement of the Tag Title match at Dynasty; one we saw coming for a long time. It’ll be interesting to see how The Bucks play into this match. I’m glad we’re getting a standard tag with FTR, Copeland & Cage, as The Bucks could certainly face the winners at Double or Nothing, this would give them time to make good on saying they’d climb the ranks to earn the shot.)
Okada wastes no time flipping off The Bucks & Perry, who hit a snap hurricanrana and dropkick, went to flip Okada off, but was attacked from behind by RPG Vice. They were quickly sent outside by The Bucks, leaving Okada alone, pleading, trying to start an Elite chant, instead was ping-ponged with chops. Pop-up hurricanrana by The Bucks, who dropped Romero with a flipping neckbreaker/backbreaker combo and Beretta with a sunset flip/German suplex. Twisting dive from Nick onto RPG Vice, as Perry followed with a massive Orihara Moonsault onto the pile. Back inside, Perry wanted the Sacrifice Knee, but was held up by Romero, giving Okada to regain advantage. Hanging dropkick/running knee combo from RPG Vice, as Okada joined with an Air Raid Crash to keep Perry isolated for an extended stretch. Perry finally began fighting back with a comebacker lariat on Okada for the double down.
Hot tag to Nick, who cleaned house on RPG Vice, walking the ropes with a lucha libre arm drag from the top. Okada cut-off a superkick, boasted about it ringside, not seeing Matt ready for a PK on the apron. Matt returned and hit a series of Northern Lights on Romero & Beretta, as The Bucks go up opposite sides of the ring for an elbow drop/senton combo. Pace picks up huge, until Beretta clips Romero with a superkick, only RPG Vice met The Bucks with a double pump knee. The Bucks answer with a double roll through sunset flip into Sharpshooters, as Perry slid in and swept out the leg of Okada for the Snare Trap and triple submission. Callis Family all get the ropes, as The Bucks go for a Meltzer Driver, Beretta saves his partner, but Perry met him with a Tope. Romero tried a Sliced Bread on Matt, almost got caught in a Meltzer Driver, but Okada hit a mid-air dropkick on Nick. Sliced Bread laid out Perry, as Beretta flew in with a Sexy Chucky Knee on Matt. RPG Vice connect on Strong Zero, but Perry broke the count. Callis Family mock The Young Bucks pose, try a triple Tombstone, but The Bucks & Perry bit their way free and get triple cradles for near falls. Triple superkicks dished out, as Romero ate a BTE Trigger, with Perry launched in with a Sacrifice Knee to get the pin.
Perry left the ring in the post-match, as The Bucks took the mic and said at Revolution, they blew it. They were so sure of themselves, so much that they had their whole families ringside, their kids wearing special entrance gear, just to watch them lose. They’re grown men, FTR were the better team on Sunday. Matt said they went to his birthday later that night, unable to look anyone in the eye. Their dad yelled at them to keep their heads up, remember who you are, the best tag team on the planet. Arenas filled with fans who still believe in them and said sons, I’m proud of you. Their dad isn’t wrong about this one, they know just who the hell they are. If it means having to claw their way back to the top, they swear there’s not a team in the back who will keep them from getting the Tag Titles for a 4th time.
Adam Copeland & Christian Cage’s music hit and they both came to the ring. Copeland said they respect the hell out of The Bucks, that was one of the best tag matches he’s ever seen against FTR at Revolution. Don’t hang your heads, they’re too good for that. FTR didn’t just attack The Bucks family, they attacked his wife. Beth Copeland is a badass, she’s a Glamazon for a reason. After 6-months waiting if she needed spinal fusion surgery, he’s been unable to look at her in the eye, but now that she’s out of the woods, he needed to get back to AEW to rectify this. Breaking FTR’s faces isn’t the best way to get back at them, it’s taking what they hold dearest, the AEW Tag Team Championship. Copeland said he wanted The Bucks to hear it from them first, as at Dynasty in Tornto, it’ll be FTR vs. Cope & Cage 2 for the AEW Tag Team Titles. Cage said they need to understand it’s personal for him, too. Winning the Tag Team Titles means he makes a ton of extra money, but also, they get a chance to prove they’re the best team of their generation, but The Bucks generation.
FTR’s music hits and they’re out with Stokely, who was cut-off by everyone yelling to shut up, so he told FTR to go get them. FTR hit the ring and got their asses kicked in quick fashion, until The Bucks, Cope & Cage picked up the Tag Team Titles at the same time. After a brief stare down, The Bucks let them go and left the ring, still staring at the gold, as FTR was left staring down Copeland & Cage to close the show.
