AEW Dynamite Summer Blockbuster comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Taz as they throw it to Tony Schiavone already in the ring and introduces Tommaso Ciampa to the ring.
Ciampa immediately cuts off Schiavone, ordering him to say what he did on Collision, that Tommaso Ciampa is better than Jericho. While Schiavone obliged on Saturday, he declined tonight, so Ciampa backed him to the corner, screaming he’s an old senile bastard who better say it or he’ll break his back. Schiavone was about to say it, when pyro went off and out came Jericho. Ciampa demanded the music be cut off, asking what Jericho has to say for himself? Jericho questions who he has to talk to in order to face someone with hair. Saying he thinks they got off on the wrong foot, so Jericho introduces himself. Ciampa says he knows who Jericho is and he knows who Ciampa is, The Psycho Killer who left him laying two weeks ago. Jericho called him Tommy, mocking that Tommaso isn’t marketable and doesn’t work on a t-shirt.
Ciampa said not even his mother calls him Tommy and Jericho asked if she’s Tommy’s Mommy. Jericho wants to know why Ciampa hates him so much, a real reason and keeps doing his Mr. Subliminal character throwing in insults before asking again. Ciampa says this whole thing is a joke, but Jericho said it’s not, he knows why, because Ciampa isn’t Jericho. Jericho said Ciampa came to AEW with a lot of fanfare, but when Jericho returned, it wasn’t quite what he had hoped. Jericho suggests Ciampa pull the stick out of his ass before he shoves it up there even further, Tommy. Ciampa went to throw the first shot, but Jericho connected first, as referees and security rushed the ring to separate them. They broke free and the brawl continued until finally being pushed apart backstage.
-Kevin Knight arrives backstage with Don Callis and are approached by Renee Paquette asking about everything that took place last week. Andrade El Idolo walks in and tells Callis he also wants a shot at the AEW World Title, telling Knight he’s new to The Family and to get to the back of the line. Andrade asks Callis if he’s with him or Knight? Callis left with Knight, but told Andrade that he’s getting his title shot, not to worry. Excalibur questions if the Callis Family has expanded too much?
Jon Moxley vs. Shane Taylor for the AEW Continental Title
(I’m happy Taylor got a whole lot of offense here and the chance to show what he’s capable of for those who don’t see him on Dynamite all that often. After a hard fought win from Moxley in his hometown, we got a very rare post-match beating on the Death Riders, despite not being a full crew, it was still nice to see STP stand tall over such an established group and hopefully this means more of them on AEW programming going forward.)
Death Riders & Shane Taylor Promotions were out for entrances, but all went to the back under Continental Title rules. It didn’t take long for both men to start trading shots, a battle that Taylor won initially, only he delayed too long, allowing Moxley to hit a dropkick off the apron and Tope to follow. Moxley went out after Taylor, only found himself chucked into the time-keepers area as the slugfest continued. Moxley tried going for the eyes, but Taylor hit a Uranage through the table. Taylor worked over Moxley during the entire commercial break, primarily targeting the midsection, as things returned with Taylor draping the ring skirt over Moxley and delivering a blind leg drop on the ring apron. Multiple corner splashes took down Moxley, who rises, slaps and flips Taylor off before ramping up strikes of his own. Taylor hit a big right hand, only Moxley didn’t go down and threw a desperation lariat for the reset.
Corner punches and a bite to the head from Moxley, who placed Taylor up in the ropes, raked the back, but Taylor battled back with headbutts. Taylor connected on a huge splash off the second for a near fall at the 10-minute call. Moxley was clobbered with a comeback lariat for another two, as Taylor locked in a Cobra Clutch. Moxley fought to his feet, but Taylor returned to the body shots and forearms. Yay/Boo strike exchange, until Moxley fires off a Cutter for his first near fall before transitioning into the armbar. Taylor escaped into a vicious knee lift into punches in bunches, as he signaled for the powerbomb, but Moxley picked the ankle. Taylor kicked out of an Ankle Lock, only Moxley bounced off the ropes into a Curb Stomp before locking in a Bulldog Choke, as Taylor fought, but tapped.
Post-match, Taylor waffled Moxley with a right hand as Carlie Bravo ran out and gave Taylor his belt, as Taylor whipped the hell out of Moxley. Daniel Garcia rushed out from the crowd, but was beaten down by The Infantry. Marina Shafir ran out, but Trish Adora decked her in the back with a kendo stick. Lee Moriarty is also ringside, as Taylor gave another splash off the second rope before calling the troops up the stage. Moriarty didn’t contribute much at all to this beat down and just shrugged his shoulders, as they’re continuing to tease a potential split from him and STP.
Match Result: Jon Moxley defeated Shane Taylor to retain the AEW Continental Title
-Video package on Mercedes Mone is shown, who said for 6 months, she watched the women’s division suffer and their heroes be taken out. Mone is back to remind everyone who she is, as you won’t take the Owen Cup, she’s not back for redemption of lost titles, she came back to defend what’s hers, Hazuki is next and the CEO always collects. Mone vs. Hazuki will take place next week.
The Jet Calls Out MJF…Gets More Than He Bargained For
Don Callis walks out to a huge chorus of boos and introduces the newest member of the Callis Family, the one you all look up to, The Jet, Kevin Knight. They both make their way to the ring, as Knight thanked Callis for that wonderful introduction. Everyone seems upset at Knight, when they should be upset at Darby Allin not getting the job done, letting us all down. Maybe they should be mad at Speedball Mike Bailey for breaking up JetSpeed. The fans shouldn’t be mad at Knight, as he’s still the face of TNT, while all the bums in the back like to wrestle for stars, Don Perigdnon made Knight his number 1 asset and they’re working on becoming Jet 2 Belts. Knight loved his signing bonus and called out MJF to the ring.
Darby Allin’s music hit, as Allin showed up behind Knight and decked him with his skateboard. Allin screamed that he hopes New York was worth it, b*tch. Allin was going up for a Coffin Drop, but bolted literally out the door as The Don Callis Family rushed the ring.

-Back from break, Mark Briscoe was talking to Tony Khan backstage and Khan only said he thought Briscoe had a good idea, gave an approving nod and for them to hit Briscoe’s music.
PAC vs. Mark Briscoe
(This was a damn fine wrestling match, as PAC was a perfect opponent for Briscoe to get a strong win under his belt on his road to MJF and a title shot. I can’t believe after all this time, this was the first singles meeting between these two.)
We were told in the previous match that PAC was busy getting ready for this contest as to why he wasn’t there to save Moxley and crew during their beatdown from Shane Taylor Promotions. They open with some grappling before exchanging quick takedowns with Briscoe standing tall. PAC took a shoulder block, kipped up and both pie-face one another until PAC missed a corner charge and ate loud chops. Float over in the corner from Briscoe, but ate a pump kick to the outside. Briscoe dodged a charge and hit a baseball slide before bodyslamming PAC and hitting the Cactus Elbow off the apron. Briscoe sat PAC down on a chair ringside, but took too long to capitalize, allowing PAC to brainbuster Briscoe onto the chair. PAC controlled most of the commercial, but Briscoe was able to battle back from the corner when things returned with some Redneck Kung-Fu. Exploder sent PAC flying, as Briscoe set him up in the corner with an Iconoclasm for two.
Suplex set PAC up in position, as Briscoe wanted a Froggy Bow, but PAC rolled out of range. PAC floated over from the apron back inside, came up a little lame it seemed, but he threw a pump kick and we get a slugfest, so I think he’s ok. Both trade kicks until a bounce back German scores for PAC. Briscoe floated over a brainbuster, hit a high boot, looked for a suplex, PAC held on and both tumbled over the top crashing hard outside. Blockbuster from the apron by Briscoe, quickly back inside for two, as Briscoe wasted no time, going up top for the Froggy Bow, but PAC got the knees up. PAC this time, went up top, rolled through and sent Briscoe flying to the opposite side with a release belly-to-belly. PAC looked for a Shooting Star, but Briscoe got the knees up, rolled to his feet and spiked PAC with a Jay Driller for the hard-fought win.
Post-match, Briscoe took the mic, brought up MJF constantly declining his title shot request, called him a b*tch and said despite that, he has a direct path to that match and called MJF out. MJF’s music hit, but they went to commercial.
Match Result: Mark Briscoe defeated PAC

MJF’s music had been playing apparently the whole break, as MJF finally showed up in the crowd saying they’re not on Briscoe time, they’re on MJF’s time. For the millionth time, MJF is the final word, the law in AEW and no one is more important than him, so for the final time, no. They say a rising tide lifts all ships and MJF is the rising tide of AEW. If Briscoe ever came near the Triple B, he’d be an anchor and the fans should appreciate MJF for protecting the title from Briscoe. Bless Briscoe’s heart for thinking he has friends in The Conglomeration, who are a liability, while MJF has the most important thing in the world, money and money talks.
The Lethal Twist (Jay Lethal, Lee Johnson & Blake Christian) hit the ring and attacked Briscoe from behind. Lethal tried Lethal Injection, but Briscoe kicked free, fought off Johnson & Christian, as he went for a Jay Driller on Lethal, but ate a thrust kick from Johnson and pump knee from Christian. The beating continued until The Conglomeration hit the ring. Tomohiro Ishii turned Lethal inside out with a lariat, Kyle O’Reilly sent Johnson packing and Roderick Strong took out Christian with an Angle Slam, while Orange Cassidy just sauntered out. MJF walked up to the ramp, as Briscoe said he knows something Max doesn’t know. MJF isn’t the boss, he’s just an a**hole, so he’ll have to find some friends. Tony Khan told Briscoe to find 5 people and MJF to find 5 people for the main event of Forbidden Door, if Briscoe wins, he gets a World Title shot. Like the sicko Tony Khan truly is, they’re doing this in a Steel Cage.
MJF was furious, as Andrade El Idolo’s music hit and he walked out staring MJF down, looking at the AEW World Title and MJF bailed. Don Callis rushed in after MJF had left and stood by Andrade’s side as The Conglomeration all left with Briscoe, leaving Cassidy alone for his upcoming match.
AEW Trios Champion Orange Cassidy vs. IWGP Global Champion Andrade El Idolo (w/Don Callis)
(Another first-time singles meeting between these two, as this turned into one heck of a match with some clever comedy spots and action aplenty. It’ll be interesting to see where they go with Andrade and Callis, who is now having to deal with multiple Family members wanting a Title shot from MJF, who Callis has always had a good working relationship with. While Mark Briscoe certainly seems next in line if Forbidden Door goes his way, you have to imagine Andrade is right after.)
Callis joined commentary, put over Cassidy for being a fantastic wrestler, as Cassidy had Andrade’s offense scouted early, but Andrade posed in the ropes, as Cassidy went to put his hands in his pockets. Andrade put a stop to it, so Cassidy zipped up Andrade’s pockets. After a brief test of strength, Andrade lost the pants altogether and the crowd wooed (Excalibur said no one react like that when he takes his pants off). In a hysterical spot, Cassidy took his pants off to reveal another pair of jeans, which popped the fans and commentary. Cassidy went to the pockets, hit multiple hurricanranas and dropkick that sent Andrade outside. Andrade cut off a Cassidy dive, teased a Figure Four (Callis screamed for Andrade to stomp Cassidy’s nuts and Schiavone said this commentary table is an adventure), but Cassidy was sent crashing outside heading into break. Callis got in some cheap shots of his own while Andrade ran distraction before taking a selfie with a fan ringside.
Cassidy started mounting a comeback, sending Andrade head first from buckle to buckle before connecting with a big flying elbow off the top. Andrade countered a satellite DDT into two of the Three Amigos, as the third was countered into a Stundog Millionaire. Tope DDT was blocked, as Andrade got his third suplex on the floor before taking another selfie with a female fan, which popped Callis because he’s getting another $40. This delay allowed Cassidy to hit his Tope and was approaching the female fan, but she had her phone taken by Lio Rush, who took a selfie with a reluctantly terrified Cassidy. Andrade attacked, as Rush asked for another selfie, as we get “How You Know?” and “It’s Mine” back and forth, as Andrade leaned in for the selfie before being spiked with a Satellite DDT from Cassidy. Back inside, Cassidy slowly went up top, but was crotched, allowing a reset. Andrade clobbered Cassidy with a running double knees in the corner for two, as he went for The DM, which Cassidy countered into a snap hurricanrana pin for a near fall. Andrade hit his back elbow, but ran right into a right-hand flush from Cassidy into a double down.
Forearm exchange on their knees, as Cassidy throws his little strikes, while Andrade is hitting full force. Thrust kick from Cassidy connects, goes for a springboard, Andrade joins him, they stumble briefly, until Cassidy sent Andrade onto the stage. Cassidy leapt off the ropes with a diving DDT on the ramp, as back inside, another one connected off the top for a close two. Cassidy signaled for Orange Punch, only Andrade took his head off with the spinning back elbow followed by The DM for the win.
Post-match, Andrade took the mic and said he had one question for Cincinnati, How You Know?
Match Result: Andrade El Idolo defeated Orange Cassidy
-Post-match comments from Will Ospreay last week after his match with Mark Davis is shown. Ospreay said Davis has gotten so much stronger since they last wrestled, but nothing was stopping him from going to Wembley and the main event. Ospreay can’t believe he’s saying this, but he owes a lot to the Death Riders. Alex Windsor charges in and hugs Ospreay in tears, as she’s visibly crushed after falling to Mercedes Mone and having her Owen Hart Tournament dreams dashed. Ospreay shoved the camera away.
-We get a video package for Thekla as we get highlights of her getting fired from Japan and Stardom after attacking the owner. Thekla said she’s closing the door for damn good and declaring death to Stardom at Forbidden Door.

-Backstage, Jon Moxley, Marina Shafir & Daniel Garcia are pissed off and challenge Shane Taylor Promotions for a 5 on 5 Street Fight for Collision this weekend.
Skye Blue vs. Maya World in a Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Quarterfinal
(For all that World has been going through outside of the ring, I thought she looked fantastic tonight and I was thrilled they went with the upset win here. Take nothing away from Blue, who had a strong showing in her own right, but you can have the upset story of World & Hazuki going into the semi-finals against Athena & Mercedes.)
Earlier today on social media, Tony Khan informed us that Sareee would not be cleared in time for tonight’s match due to a lingering neck injury. World, who had a recent tragic death in her family (thoughts and condolences go out to her during this difficult time), wanted to show up and wrestle, so Khan granted her this tournament spot. Inset pre-match promo from Triangle of Madness, as Thekla said all of Japan is afraid of The Triangle, while Blue said Sareee made the smart call not wrestling in this tournament, with Thekla saying The Triangle Takeover has begun. Renee Paquette was ringside, talking about the heartbreaking week for World, who lost her younger brother and since he was the reason she wanted to become a wrestler, she gets to fight for his honor.
Taz put over World for competing tonight with everything on her mind, as both ladies trade strikes early on, with World connecting on a spinning leg lariat. Corner kick connects, but Blue dodges a dive from the ropes and pounces with punches in bunches. Snap suplex by Blue, as World battled back with a double stomp from the corner, sending Blue to the ramp. Blue side-stepped a charge and connected with a draping swinging neckbreaker heading into commercial. It was all Blue during break, who hit a running face wash in the corner and kept World grounded. World battled back with an impressive diving roll-up into a double stomp, as both trade standing switches until Blue fired off a pump knee, missed a lariat and got stacked with a bridging German from World for a near fall. World tried going up top, but was cut-off by Blue, who hit a Cheeky Nandos Kick and nasty high angle Liger Bomb for two. World blocked the charging knee into bridging Fall Away Slam for two of her own. Blue got decked with a flying Shining Wizard for another near fall from World.
Dueling chants from the crowd, as both ladies slug it out with forearms and thrust kicks. World rolled through a German, connected on an enzugiri and release German of her own, but Blue exploded up into her running knee for the double down. World started firing off near falls, so Blue cut her off with multiple thrust kicks before hitting a TKO for two. A frustrated Blu went for Code Blue, World shrugged her off, got a high stack into a bridge for the flash pin and stunning upset. World now moves on to face Athena in the Semi-Finals.
Match Result: Maya World defeated Skye Blue to advance in the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament
-Video package for Zack Sabre Jr. is shown ahead of Forbidden Door in a few weeks. Sabre talks about defeating Nigel McGuinness last year and wants AEW’s best yet again, someone he hasn’t faced in years and never faced in America, one of the greatest wrestlers of this generation. What’s the Frequency, Kenneth? Zack Sabre Jr. is the best technical wrestler in the world, but is Kenny Omega still the best, d*ckhead? We’re told that Omega has accepted the challenge and the match is official for Forbidden Door. We’re told Omega will face Bad Dude Tito on Collision this week, a stablemate of TMDK with Sabre.

-The Don Callis Family are backstage when they are interrupted by MJF, who brings up the 6 on 6 Cage Match at Forbidden Door and says he’s going to need 5 of Callis’ top guys. Callis said you can’t treat his guys like meat, he’s not a pimp, as MJF brings out a briefcase of cash, as Callis agrees immediately, saying he’ll buy a boat. Andrade was about to talk, when Kevin Knight interrupts and says The Jet will join MJF’s team, but only if he gets a World Title shot in return. MJF said ok Mr. Talks in the Third Person, he wasn’t one of his top picks, yet he agrees, but tells Knight after this, there won’t be another rematch. MJF leaves, while Callis said Jet 2 Belts will be a reality, as they go off to celebrate, but Andrade stops Callis, asking about his title shot? Callis said Andrade has his word that he’ll get his title shot and they shake hands.
Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) vs. Brody King in a Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Semifinal
(I don’t think these two are capable of having a bad match together, as if there’s one thing more terrifying than Brody King, it’s a crimson masked Brody King. Strickland had to rely on outside help to get the job done, but almost everyone knew when the brackets were announced that all roads would/should lead to Strickland vs. Will Ospreay in the Finals. Sometimes predictability is a good thing and that should be an amazing match to determine who headlines Wembley Stadium.)
Renee Paquette is side stage talking about the lengths Strickland goes to get what he wants and brings up Revolution and the last time he met King. Strickland told Paquette earlier today to expect the rules to be stretched, maybe even broken tonight.
Loud F*ck ICE chants from the Cincinnati crowd, as King chops away on Strickland to start before locking in a hanging sleeper, dragging Strickland to the ramp. Strickland hung up King through the ropes throat first, only King recovered quick and launched Strickland head first into the post before flattening him with a somersault senton from the apron. Nana ran distraction long enough for Strickland to drop toe hold King into a chair, sit him down and hit a running Swerve Stomp from the apron heading into break. During commercial, Strickland got distracted by trying to intimidate referee Aubrey, allowing King to crack Strickland with a huge chop and running senton. King looked for a superplex, Strickland slipped out for a corner powerbomb, but King held on and pulled off the top buckle pad off in the process. Strickland delivered almost an Avalanche Russian Leg Sweep, before whiffing entirely on a House Call (commentary tried their best to say King ducked), as he charged at King, who popped him up, only Strickland hit a Swerve Stomp in mid-air, sending King outside. Strickland floated over the top rope, but right into King’s clutches and he hit a Choke Bomb onto the announce table, which didn’t break as we saw MJF watching backstage, clutching his Triple B.
Huge strike battle back inside, as King connected on a swinging back suplex, Strickland popped up into House Call, only King didn’t go down and hit a home run lariat for two in a nice sequence. King locked in a sleeper, but Strickland kept smashing King back into the exposed corner, where King was sent head first, busting him open. Strickland hits another House Call, only King rose to his feet, so Strickland went up top for a top-level House Call for the closest two of the match. Strickland wanted a Vertebreaker, but King used his power to easily escape into a running Death Valley Driver into the corner. Nana again distracted King, who locked him into the hanging choke off the apron before smashing Strickland in the corner with a running cannonball and followed with a piledriver for close two of his own as the crowd are going nuts. King wanted a Gonzo Bomb, Strickland escaped, tried to send King into Aubrey, who leapt for safety, giving Nana a chance to cheap shot King with I believe the ring bell back into an awaiting Strickland to hit a Vertebreaker for the win. The Men’s Owen Hart Finals are set with Strickland & Will Ospreay happening at Forbidden Door.
Match Result: Swerve Strickland defeated Brody King to advance in the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament
