Keith Lee says in-ring return ‘will certainly happen’

Amid his mysterious absence from the ring, Keith Lee is reassuring fans that he will return at some point.
It’s now been nearly two years since Lee last wrestled. An undisclosed injury forced him to be pulled from AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view at the end of 2023, and Lee said he would need to undergo double surgeries. Lee noted a couple of months ago that his health has been good “for quite some time.”
This week, Lee responded to a fan on social media and thanked them for their support. The 40-year-old Lee said an in-ring return “will certainly happen” for him, but he doesn’t know how or when that will be.
“You honor me. I appreciate you for that. All my gratitude. I’d like to take this moment to remind you, that you also, are boundless,” he tweeted to the fan. “Additionally, I’ll take a moment to reassure you that a return to the ring will certainly happen. Though I won’t posit how or when. Much love.”
Lee debuted for AEW in 2022 after having starred for WWE on the main roster and in NXT. He’s a one-time tag team champion during his AEW run.
The last match Lee had before this absence was a victory over Brian Cage on AEW Collision in December 2023.
