AEW's first TNT special event is reportedly being planned for January.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast reported today that AEW is planning to hold its first TNT special on Saturday, January 8. Zarian wrote that "Battle of the Belts" is a possible name for the show.

"Per Source: AEW is planning a TNT Special on Jan 8th," Zarian wrote. "They're obviously not able to use the name 'Clash of the Champions' due to WWE owning the rights... However, I'm hearing the possible name for this show will be 'Battle of the Belts' A throwback to NWA/CFW."

AEW filed a trademark for "Battle of the Belts" this September.

When WarnerMedia announced in May that AEW Dynamite would be moving to TBS at the start of 2022, it was noted that part of AEW's new agreement was that the promotion would now have four Saturday "supercard" specials on TNT each year.

AEW Rampage was initially scheduled to also move to TBS at the start of 2022, but the show will instead be staying on TNT.
