**********

Taped in Boston, Massachusetts.

Tony Schiavone and Paul Wight were on commentary. Man, I can’t remember the last time that Wight was on AEW television.

Jack Perry v. Nick Wayne

Wight noted that both these men were trained by Christian Cage, and they both hate him.

Perry big-brothered Wayne a bit by mussing his hair. Perry took Wayne down into a hammerlock. Perry sent Wayne to the mat with a shoulder block, then sent him to the floor with a dropkick. Perry followed Wayne out to the floor and whipped him into the ring barricade, then hit him with hard chops.

Wayne raked Perry’s eyes, then DDT’d him into the ring steps.

After a commercial, they were back in the ring where Perry was ramming Wayne’s head into the turnbuckle. Perry hung Wayne up in the ropes, then hit him with a legdrop off the middle ropes. Wayne caught Pery with gamengiri on the apron. He set up for Wayne’s World, but Perry caught him and powerbombed him on the ring apron.

The crowd was either super into everything or extremely well mic’d.

Back in the ring, Wayne hit a snap dragon, but Perry came back with a poisoned rana. Wayne tried for a Killswitch, but Perry escaped and hit a clothesline on the rebound and both guys were down.

Perry got Wayne with an O’Conner Roll for a near fall. Wayne sent Perry to the floor. Wayne came through the ropes and hit Perry with a Canadian Destroyer on the floor, and again both guys were down on the floor.

The ref started to count both competitors out. Wayne got back into the ring at six. Perry slid into the ring just before ten, and Wayne crushed him with a springboard splash and a fisherman’s buster for a near fall.

Wayne went for Wayne’s World, but Perry caught him with a German suplex. Perry finished off Wayne with a superkick and a running knee.

Match Result: Jack Perry pinned Nick Wayne after a running knee (11:03).

— The Young Bucks voiced over some recent highlights.  All is right in the wrestling world because Kenny Omega is the World Champion, and soon the Young Bucks will be tag champions again. But the Bucks don’t trust Jon Moxley or the Death Riders, and they don’t trust Will Ospreay, either. So, The Young Bucks challenged Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay for Redemption.

— Christian Cage and Adam Copeland challenged Claudio Castignoli and PAC to a match for the AEW World tag team titles, if they can get their noses out of Moxley’s a$$.

Kevin Knight v. AR Fox for the TNT Championship

Knight jumped Fox before the bell. The fight went to the floor, and the crowd chanted “We Want Speedball!” to get under Knight’s skin. Back in the ring, Fox took Knight down with a rana, then hit a rolling neckbreaker.

The fight went to the floor again. Fox missed a moonsault. Knight came off the commentator’s table with a flying clothesline.

(It should be noted that after not talking about Hangman Page’s return on Dynamite Wednesday, it’s apparently all that Tony Schivone can talk about tonight, bringing up Hangman’s name in both matches so far.)

After a commercial, Fox hit a cutter and a swanton for a near fall. It was such a close fall the fans were chanting “that was three!” Knight went for a springboard and got hit with another cutter, getting hung up in the ropes. Fox turned that into another destroyer, then came off the top with a 450 for another near fall.

The crowd chanted “Fight Forever!” Fox set up Knight for a Spanish Fly off the top. But Knight blocked it, then took Fox down with an avalanche uranage. Knight then hit the UFO Splash to get the pinfall.

Match Result: Kevin Knight retained the TNT Championship by pinfall over Kevin Knight (9:34).

Knight gave Fox way to much here, especially since he is going after the World Title in 8 days.

Hechicero, Brian Cage & Jake Doyle (w/ Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero, and Lance Archer) vs. Gino Medina, Tome Filip & Nic Nolan

Kevin Knight moved to the commentary desk for this match.

This was a total squash. Doyle powerbombed one of the enhancement guys on the floor. Cage got the pinfall.

Match Result:  Cage, Doyle & Hechicero won by pinfall (1:50).

After the match, the Don Callis Family members beat up the enhancement talent until Mike Bailey and the Conglomeration ran in to chase them off. Jay Lethal & The Swirl were shown watching in the crowd.

— Will Ospreay asked his opponent tonight not to take things personally. Meanwhile, Moxley accepted the challenge from the Young Bucks for Redemption. This match was confirmed for Redemption during the next match.

Will Ospreay v. Adam Brooks

Brooks sucker-punched Ospreay as the bell rang. Ospreay caught Brooks with a step up rana which sent him to the floor. Osprey followed him out with a tope.

Ospreay back suplexed on the ring barricade. Back in the ring, Ospreay hit a springboard forearm. Ospreay tried for the Oscutter, but Brooks avoided it and Ospreay crashed to the mat.

Brooks cut down Ospreay with a back elbow for a near fall. Ospreay battled back with forearms. Brooks snapped the middle rope into Ospreay for an effective low blow. Ospreay hit a neckbreaker for a near fall.

Ospreay countered a powerbomb attempt with a rana, then hit a spinning kick. Ospreay caught Brooks with a standing skytwister press for a near fall. Brooks tried to use the ref as a shield from an Ospreay charge, then caught Ospreay with a kick. Brooks sent Ospreay into the turnbuckles with an overhead throw for a near fall.

Ospreay caught Brooks going for a boot, then leveled him with a pair of forearms. Ospreay caught Brooks with a spin kick, but Brooks came back with a backstabber. Ospreay hit a Spanish Fly for a near fall.

Ospreay charged in for a Hidden Blade, but Brooks stopped that by spitting at Ospreay. Ospreay leveled Brooks with a forearm, then killed him dead with forearms to the back of the neck until Brooks tapped out.

Don’t spit at Will Ospreay is the lesson here.

Match Result: Will Ospreay defeated Adam Brooks by tap-out (8:26).

— Darby Allin told Kevin Knight he needed to be humble, and he didn’t listen. So Allin will take the TNT title from him on Wednesday. Allin then set fire to a car with a blowtorch.

Wrestling is weird sometimes.

Athena v. Ava Everett

The match went to the floor early. Athena tossed Everett into the ring barricade. Everett got a one count after a rollup. Athena hit a Everett with a pump kick, then dead lifted her up into a pair of powerbombs. Athena tapped out Everett with a leg scissors around her head and neck.

Match Result: Athena submitted Ava Everett (2:13)

The Brawling Birds came out for their match while Athena was leaving the ring.

The Brawling Birds v. Tiara James & Kayla Lopez

This was the 3rd squash in a row, all in the same segment of the show. They finished off James with the “Two Birds, One Stone.”

Match Result: The Brawling Birds defeated James & Lopez when Jamie Hayter pinned James.

— The Bang Bang Gang responded to the Dogs video from earlier, and Jay White challenged Clark Conners for Dynamite Wednesday.

Tommaso Ciampa v. Myron Reed (w/ the Rascalz)

Ciampa caught Reed with a thumb to the eye, then stomped a mudhole in Reed in the corner. The crowd was rabid for Ciampa the Boston native. Ciampa caught Reed with a pump knee. Ciampa tried for a running knee, but Reed avoided it and caught Ciampa with a superkick. Reed hit kind of a slingshot back suplex for a near fall.

Reed caught Ciampa with a kick that sent him to the floor. Reec charged at Ciampa through the ropes, but Ciampa caught him and DDT’d him onto the entrance ramp.

After a commercial, Reed dove right into a knee from Ciampa. Reed sent Ciampa to the floor with an enziguri, then followed him out with a dive. Back in the ring, Reed hit a springboard forearm for a near fall.

Reed set Ciampa up on the top rope for something, but Ciampa countered with an avalanche Air Raid crash for a near fall.

Reed escaped a powerbomb and caught him with a superkick. Reed caught Ciampa with a flying cutter over the ropes onto the ramp, then did another flying cutter from the ramp into the ring and got a near fall.

Reed countered a suplex attempt with a stunner. Ciampa caught Reed with a kick to the gut, then turned a sit-out powerbomb into a back stabber. Ciampa hit Reed with a running knee and got the pinfall.

Match Result: Ciampa pinned Reed after a running knee. (10:26)

After the match, Ciampa grabbed a house mic and went to the commentary table. Wight stood up, and Ciampa stood on a chair so he could talk to Paul Wight. Ciampa called Wight Jericho’s “best friend” and he wanted Wight to give Jericho a message.

Ciampa said that Tommaso Ciampa was better than Chris Jericho, but also the “Psycho Killer” wasn’t afraid of the “Painmaker.” Also, Ciampa told Wight to tell Jericho the match would be “No Holds Barred.” Ciampa and Wight and a long stare down to end the segment.

The Ciampa/Jericho match at Redemption was confirmed as “No Holds Barred” later in the show.

— Renee Paquette interviewed Andrade bout his match for the National Title at Redemption. Andrade showed off his new Dynamite Diamond Ring. Mark Davis came out of nowhere and leveled Andrade with his title belt, then choked him out with a sleeper.

Andrade didn’t even get to say “How you know?”

Mercedes Mone Interview

Renee Paquette brought Mercedes Mone out to the ring. Since Mercedes is also from Boston, she got a big face pop. Paquette asked Mercedes who she thought would win the title match at Redemption between Willow Nightingale and Thekla. Mone said that she was taking the AEW World Women’s Title at All In, and didn’t matter if it was from Thekla or Willow Nightingale. Mercedes said she cracked Thekla with her title belt, so she ran to Japan. And when Mercedes beat Willow, she ran to Japan, too (well, she would have if she didn’t have plane trouble, but Mercedes didn’t know that when this was taped).

Anyway, it doesn’t matter who walks into All In with the World Women’s title, because Mercedes is gong to be the one walking out with it.

— Copleand and Christian called out Claudio and PAC for a tag title match at Redemption. The Young Bucks came along to complement them on their victory and lay the ground work for what should be the tag title match at All In. I mean, unless another dream match for the Bucks comes along.

Bandido v. Adam Priest for the ROH World Championship

Priest didn’t even get a ring introduction. Bandido hit a couple of snap German suplexes. Priest responded by kicking Bandido in the shin and hitting him with a dropkick. Priest sent Bandido into the turnbuckles shoulder first.

After a long commercial (during the picture in picture part, Priest was working over Bandido’s arm), both men were exchanging chops in the ring. Bandido hit a series of suplexes and a one-arm press slam.

Bandido came off the top with a frog splash, but Priest got out of the way, and turned Bandido into a jackknife cover for a near fall. Priest hit a lariat, but Bandido came back by flipping Priest into a face-first powerbomb.

Bandido went for the 21-plex, but Priest held onto the ropes. Priest went for a crossface chicken wing, but Bandido escaped and hit a spinebuster.

Bandido did a backflip onto a prone Priest (who was on his stomach), then deadlifted him from that position into a German suplex, and bridged back to get the pinfall. I hate the 21-plex, but this was spectacular.

Match Result: Bandido pinned Adam Priest (about 8:00 aired).

— In a pre-taped interview from Japan, 2/3s of the new Artist of Stardom Tag Team Champions, Julia Hart and Skye Blue (holding their new championship belts) challenged Lena Cross & Megan Bayne for the AEW World Tag Team titles in a street fight for Dynamite on Wednesday.

Queen Aminata v. Hikaru Shida for the TBS Championship

They started out by exchanging punches and forearms. Shida ended that with a thumb to the eye, then rolled up Aminata into a small package for a near fall. Aminata came back with the chocolate kisses and a kick to the back.

The fight went to the floor. Aminata set Shida on a chair, then came off the apron with a stomp/dropkick,  and everyone crumbled into a heap.

Aminata came off the top looking to stomp Shida on the ramp, but Shida got out of the way. Aminata went for her Queen’s Crown headbutt, but Shida ducked and  Aminata headbutted the turnbuckle. Shida followed up with a variation on the Dead Eye on the entrance ramp.

After a commercial, Aminata had Shida in a Boston Crab, but Aminata’s back gave out and she released the hold. Aminata started to fire up with kicks. Aminata hit a fisherman’s swinging neckbreaker. Aminata came off the middle ropes with a double stomp for a near fall.

The fight went to the floor. Shida went to use her kendo stick, but the referee grabbed it away from her. Shida then gouged Aminiata’s eyes, then whipped her into the ring barricade.

Back in the ring, Shida came off the top with a meteora, then hit a Falcon Arrow for a near fall. Shida started driving Aminata’s knee into the mat. Aminata caught Shida with a small package for a near fall. Aminata and Shida then exchanged and reversed a series of cradles for two counts.

Shida caught Aminata with a leg whip, but Aminata came back with her headbutt. Aminata went for a  sliding knee in the ropes, but Shida grabbed the injured knee and stretched it against the ropes. Shida rolled up Aminata, then put her feet on the ropes for additional leverage and got the pinfall.

Match Result: Shida pinned Aminata with her feet on the ropes to get the pinfall (10:51).

After the match, Shida worked over Aminata with her kendo stick until Maya World ran out to make the save. World chased Shida away.

At the end of the show, Tony Schivone announced that Maya World would get a TBS Championship match against Shida at Redemption.

They set up some matches for Wednesday and the ppv on Sunday, so that’s something.
