AEW Dynamite live results: Kenny Omega championship celebration

AEW Dynamite is live tonight from the MGM Music Hall in Boston, Massachusetts.

Scheduled for the show, new AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will hold a championship celebration.

Omega defeated MJF on last week’s Dynamite to win the AEW World Championship for a second time. Had Omega lost, the match carried the stipulation that he would never be able to challenge for the title again.

Willow Nightingale, Maya World, and Hyan will face Mercedes Mone and AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne and Lena Kross) in a trios match.

Andrade El Idolo will wrestle Jake Doyle and will earn a shot at AEW National Champion Mark Davis if he wins.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with highlights of last week’s Beach Break show.

Earlier today, we see Will Ospreay training hard backstage throwing forearms on a heavy bag as Daniel Garcia, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta are yelling at him to continue. Jon Moxley walks in and saying quit playing grab ass, it’s game time. He doesn’t care what Hall of Fame Cope & Cage belong to, you go out there and get it done. Garcia & Yuta depart as Moxley tells Ospreay the important work is done, but the last steps are the critical ones. People make simple things so complicated, they see the target and finish line, but hesitate. Ospreay earned this and there will be a time where he has to make a difficult decision. That time will come, but his dream is not one of those, this is simple, you take the shot, don’t hesitate, pull the trigger, no matter who the target is. Moxley leaves and Ospreay continues to violently smash the heavy bag. This was really good, as that line from Moxley on no matter who the target is you have to imagine will come into play at some point down the line.

Cope & Cage (Adam Copeland & Christian Cage) vs. Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia) for the AEW Tag Team Titles

(Solid defense for the champions, as the Boston crowd loved to hate on Yuta in this one. All signs point to The Young Bucks eventually getting a title shot, whether that be at Redemption or (more likely) All In, is yet to be determined. With Copeland, Cage & The Bang Bang Gang getting in constant scuffles with The Dogs & Death Riders, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re getting a big tag match at the PPV.)

Crowd sings along to Copeland’s theme and right as it ends, Taz says “that song sucks” and pops the commentary crew. Renee Paquette is ringside and said she tried to get a word with Cage today, but you can imagine how that went. Copeland told her the Death Riders are real pieces of…you get the drift. C& C have never been more on the same page and look forward to picking off the Death Riders. Boston crowd loudly let Yuta know what they think of him, as he started things off with Copeland, who clobbered Yuta with a big boot, as Cage & Garcia tag in. Cage teases a Garcia style dance, but flips him off instead. Luring Garcia in, Copeland & Cage with a double hip toss, but Yuta trapped Copeland in the ring skirt and put the boots to him as Cage argued with the ref. The Death Riders young guns isolated Copeland throughout the entire break.

Things return with Copeland fading to a Garcia sleeper, but rolled through into a snap powerslam for the double down. Yuta cut off a hot tag attempt, fought with Copeland up in the corner, where Copeland bit free and dove for the Cage tag. Corner punches were slipped out by Yuta, only Cage reversed, tried a Killswitch, but settled for a reverse DDT for two. Garcia charged in, but was slammed face first onto Yuta low. Signature slingshot uppercut from Cage, who laid out Garcia with a backdrop on the floor. Back inside, diving headbutt on Yuta for a near fall, as he signaled for Killswitch, but was cut off. Copeland leap frogs his partner and both Yuta & Garcia get knocked down. Copeland & Garcia tumble to the ramp, as Cage suckered referee Bryce into thinking he’d take off the corner buckle pad, but led to an attempted low blow on Yuta, who blocked into a German suplex for two. Cage bit the noggin, went to the corner, but was crotched by Garcia leading to locomotion corner strikes. They repeat the turnbuckle spot with Yuta, but that just led to Cage hitting a low blow kick and pop-up Spear from Copeland to get the win.

Post-match, we see The Young Bucks applauding from the crowd in the balcony, as Copeland gives a nod. The Dogs & Claudio Castagnoli hit the ring and attack Copeland & Cage in a 5 on 2 beat down. The Bang Bang Gang’s music hit and they cleared the ring, brawling all around ringside. Finlay was left alone with Cage, was about to use the shillelagh, when Switchblade Jay White appeared and took it from Finlay, who hightailed it with the Death Riders through the crowd. Finlay & Cage had a staredown, as Copeland & the Bang Bang Gang stepped between them. Crowd chanted “Hug It Out”, as Copeland shook all their hands, but Cage left as White hilariously played the air drums with the shillelagh as Finlay screamed from the crowd that he wanted it back.

Match Result: Cope & Cage defeated Death Riders to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles when Cage pinned Yuta

-Footage of Hikaru Shida defeating Harley Cameron on Collision was shown to retain the TBS Title and the post-match attack on Cameron that we’re told has put her on the shelf indefinitely. Shida will defend against Queen Aminata this Saturday.

-Video package of Andrade El Idolo is shown on a yacht with a lady by his side, saying being champion is his destiny. How You Know? Soon, you will. We then go backstage to Renee Paquette with Andrade, who said he’ll fight every member of the Callis Family and take every title from them, he will. His destiny is to become AEW World Champion. Paquette reminds him how many members of the Family there are and he pulls out a box containing MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring. He said he has a good friend and Paquette asks if that friend is Will Ospreay? Andrade simply says (say it with me) How You Know?

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Conglomeration saying there’s plenty of teams wanting the Trios Titles and Roderick Strong asked where are they? Orange Cassidy said now would be a perfect time for someone to walk in and challenge them. Right on cue, The Demand walks in, saying it’s time to take those titles from those backpacks. Before anything else can happen, The Conglomeration is attacked by The Lethal Twist. Ricochet said he promised to not lay a hand on the champs until they’re ready, but The Lethal Twist aren’t in The Demand…yet.

Andrade El Idolo vs. Jake Doyle

(A good first win in The Callis Family revenge tour for Andrade, whose ultimate goal is to take all the titles from the Family and defeat them all on his way to the AEW World Title. If he plans on beating every Callis Family member, it’s going to take Andrade until about next years All In to ultimately get his World title shot.)

Andrade was accompanied by two ladies during his entrance, as they take his robe and they show off the Dynamite Diamond Ring, that Andrade puts on. Doyle attacks at the bell outside, as back inside, gets squashed in the corner with multiple splashes. Went to the well one too many times, as Doyle ran into a boot a hurricanrana off the second and another off the apron outside. Andrade took off his shirt to reveal a censored F*ck Don Callis shirt and takes a photo with a female fan ringside. Taking way too long to follow-up, Doyle crotched Andrade back inside, as he grabbed him by the throat, both tumbled over the top, only Doyle held on and he hit a chokeslam onto the apron. Doyle kept Andrade grounded throughout the entire commercial break. As things returned, Andrade tried to mount a comeback, got steamrolled by multiple Doyle shoulder tackles, only on the fourth attempt, hit an enzugiri into the reset.

Andrade kips up first and takes his shirt off, popping the crowd like he just won a title. Andrade played to the crowd too long, went for his double knees and Doyle popped up with a massive body tackle. Doyle overcommitted on a corner charge, rolled outside, where Andrade hit a moonsault off the corner buckle. Back inside, Andrade tried a slingshot hurricanrana, was caught into a snazzy Liger Bomb from Doyle for two. Trying to follow up, Andrade blocked a suplex into the Three Amigos for a two count of his own. Andrade hits his corner double knees, but again, Doyle kicked out. Quickly up top, Andrade does the Eddie Guerrero shimmy, only Doyle caught him with a massive forearm in mid-air and another for good measure for a near fall. Andrade spun out of a Boss Man Slam into a crucifix for two, as they got up, Andrade hit his spinning back elbow and The DM to get the win.

We’re told Andrade will now get an AEW National Title shot against Mark Davis at Redemption. Davis came out, swinging the title, was going to come to the ring, but Andrade put on the Dynamite Diamond Ring to keep Davis & Doyle at bay.

Kenny Omega’s AEW World Championship Celebration

Tony Schiavone is in the red carpet covered ring that has a big Omega symbol covered in photos of Omega, as he introduces the New AEW World Champion. Omega walks out to a huge ovation and pyro display, but before he can say anything The Young Bucks music hits and they walk out with a bag in hand. Matt said they’ll make this quick, as they’ve been best friends nearly 20 years and last year he won the big one all by himself, they’re proud of him and he showed he’s still the best wrestler on this planet. They have to admit, wearing the Triple B peeves them, so they brought him something. Nick takes out the classic AEW World Title and makes the switch official.

Omega said it’s been so long, he can’t even quote the real number of days since he’s held this World Title. The difference maker wasn’t believing in himself, it was his friends and family, the fans, his extended AEW family, he would’ve given up on himself a long time ago, as this wasn’t supposed to happen, yet here we are. Here we are, less than 50 days until Wembley, but as much as he’d like to say he’s ready, he’s got work to do. Omega promises in 50 days’ time, you’ll see the best version of Kenny Omega in AEW.

Will Ospreay’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring to a huge ovation as well. Ospreay said he’s glad The Bucks have landed on their feet after he cost them their EVP jobs last year and asks if he can have a one-on-one conversation with Omega and they oblige. Ospreay said it was important Omega believed in himself and he was there to see Omega wrestle 25 minutes in that heat, not giving up on himself once. Ospreay thought Omega was done after taking a belt shot, but then kicked out at one like a cheeky slag. The Cleaner is back, The Best Bout Machine is back and says when they get closer to Wembley, things will heat up, they’re two alpha males. Ospreay said for 10 years, Omega has been his hero, his inspiration and can only thank him each time he steps foot in the ring with him. When Ospreay thinks of AEW, he thinks of Kenny Omega, as all he’s ever wanted to be was a fraction of what Omega is, but he’s not satisfied at being second, as Omega said, nor should he. Ospreay said every week, they’ll be out here showing everyone why they’re in the position they’re in. Wembley Stadium, main event, AEW World Title, let’s show them this is where the best wrestle.

Right as they’re about to do a Mega Powers-esque handshake, Kevin Knight’s music hits and out walks the TNT Champion. Knight said he doesn’t mean to break up this brotherly love fest, but tells Ospreay he’s got things to talk about champion to champion. Omega said Ospreay can stay, as Knight said he wanted to congratulate face-to-face, but while they can talk about Wembley, The Jet is still owed a World Title shot courtesy of Maxwell Jacob Fraudman and there’s a debt to still be paid. Omega is a God, but what’s a God to a non-believer? Knight issues the challenge for Redemption for the AEW World Title and the crowd are chanting No.

Omega said Knight is trying to hold Omega accountable for a promise MJF made? They’re not going to do that, what they are going to do, maybe Omega will give him a shot just because he’s a nice guy. Maybe because the first time Omega saw Knight, he saw something special, that has IT, someone that looked the part, faster than everyone, jumped higher and someone that was hungry. That’s where it ended, because Knight went and aligned himself with Don Callis. Omega said he’d be a hypocrite if he told everyone he never believed in what Callis sold him, as the last time he was World Champion was thanks to Callis. It was during Coronavirus, when no one was able to show up, but Omega realized if they could, they wouldn’t have shown up, as his worth fell right down the toilet, he didn’t deserve them to. Omega told Knight trust him, he doesn’t need Callis, the same words that Speedball Bailey, Will Ospreay or the fans believe. Knight could do this all on his own.

Omega said call MJF what you want, but he wasn’t a fraud, as he defended the title when he said he’d do it. The only fraud Omega sees, is Knight, as deep down inside, the sh*t Knight is spewing isn’t from the heart. Call Omega crazy, but he thinks there’s a lot of good left in his heart and doesn’t need a guy like Don Callis to beat a Kenny Omega. If it’s going to be them at Redemption, he wants The Jet, not Callis’ Little B*tch. If you’re going to be Jet-2-Belts, do it on your own, big boy. Knight said he makes a good point, but one thing he’s wrong about, there’s not goodness in his heart, only greatness. Knight popped Omega in the head with the microphone, as Ospreay flew in for a Hidden Blade attempt, but Knight ducked and bailed up the ramp, where Darby Allin sprinted out and attacked.

Brian Cage attacked Allin from behind, as The Don Callis Family head out, but only Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta got laid out by Omega & Ospreay. Cage, Hechicero, Knight & Jake Doyle are on the ramp, as Death Riders music hits and Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli even the numbers, with The Callis Family retreating. This was a very long segment, but it ultimately accomplished what it set out to do, put Knight over as the first challenger for Omega.

-Jungle Jack Perry is backstage and said he put pen to paper on Chapter 2 of his AEW career, as Chapter 1 saw him coming close to breaking through. This Saturday, he’s issuing a challenge to anyone who thinks they’re in the same shoes as he was, someone who wants to show what the future of pro wrestling is all about. We see Luchasaurus holding a boom mic, as Perry walked away.

Brodido (Bandido & Brody King) vs. Nick Comoroto & Aaron Solo

Comoroto shows off his power on Bandido early for a gorilla press, only Bandido escaped and hit a press slam of his own. King tags in for an assisted splash and senton to follow for two. Solo made the save, but suffered corner strikes as a result. Stun Gun into a back suplex, as King slammed Comoroto onto his partner, as Bandido followed with a Frog Splash onto the pile for the quick win over the former Factory crew.

Match Result: Brodido defeated Nick Comoroto & Aaron Solo

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Kyle Fletcher & Don Callis, but are ran into (literally) by Brodido, who put a Most Wanted poster to Fletcher’s chest before walking off.

Kyle Fletcher (w/Don Callis & Lance Archer) vs. Komander for the AEW International Title

(While Komander isn’t always showcased on Dynamite, when he does pop up, he knocks it out of the park. I don’t think when this started that anyone thought Komander had a shot, but he had them biting at the crazy false finishes down the stretch. This was a crazy sprint of a match and both crushed it.)

Lighting quick start for Komander getting early near fall attempts, as he’s low bridged, but caught a leaping Komander off the apron, drops him face first and hits a running boot. Fletcher hugged Callis, but back inside, Komander was able to battle back and connect on his impressive rope walk dive that took things to break with the crowd going nuts. Komander seemed to tweak his leg, allowing Fletcher to pounce and control most of the commercial.

We return to Komander fighting back with a massive thrust kick, but Fletcher recovered with an enzugiri, attempted a deadlift Avalanche Brainbuster from the apron, but Komander slid out into a double jump snap hurricanrana. Fletcher went back outside, as Komander hit another diving hurricanrana, sending Fletcher face first into the corner of the commentary table, busting him open. An impressive spinning 450 Splash back inside for two, as Komander tries going for the rope walk Shooting Star, Fletcher swept out the legs, only Komander flipped out to his feet and followed with an insane springboard Destroyer for two, as the crowd are going nuts with rightful “Holy Sh*t” chants. Thrust kick connects, but Komander ran right into a Michinoku Driver for two. Fletcher missed the Lawn Dart, Komander tried a spinning moonsault, but was caught in the clutches of Fletcher, who spiked him with a brainbuster for the win in a thriller.

Post-match, Fletcher went to rip the mask off Komander when Konosuke Takeshita ran out and waffled Fletcher with a hard forearm before picking up the International Title. With his back turned, Kazuchika Okada appears from off-screen and laid out Takeshita with a Rainmaker. Okada & Fletcher both picked up the International Title at the same time and had a stare down, until Brodido hit the ring, as a springboard dropkick from Bandido sent ProtOkada to the floor, as Brody King hit a Tope on both. Brodido helped Takeshita up and it was Bandido who was holding the International Title high to end the segment.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher defeated Komander to retain the AEW International Title

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Kenny Omega, as they’re approached by Darby Allin, saying Kevin Knight needs to be humbled next week, as he’ll take the TNT Title from him. Omega can waste his time talking or he can beat it out of him. Omega said he’ll leave that to Allin, who leaves. Jon Moxley walks in, saying Allin is right, some people are what they are, can’t pretend to be anything else, even if they try.

-Renee Paquette welcomes us back on stage and introduces The Brawling Birds. Jamie Hayter asks Boston if they care for a couple words from The Birds? Alex Windsor said if anyone knows about drinking and fighting, it’s Boston. They’re crushed by the World Cup results from earlier today, but fear not, these Brits with the Tits won’t let you down. Wembley is in their sights, so close they can taste it. They will beat the piss out of anyone to prove they’re the best team in AEW. They said let’s go get pissed, first round is on them, as they head out with Paquette.

-Jericho is backstage in a dark room and issues a challenge to Ciampa at Redemption. Ciampa brings the pain, Jericho will bring the Painmaker. Hell is coming for Ciampa. We then go to Ciampa, who said Tommaso Ciampa is better than Chris Jericho, they’ll find out at Redemption if The Painmaker if better than The Psycho Killer. Before they get there, he’s got one more night in his hometown. Ciampa issues a challenge to anyone on Collision, saying he hopes Jericho is watching, welcome to the City of Champions, the City of Ciampa.

Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage

(Allin survived Cage more than defeated him. This was some crazy bumps, even for Darby Allin standards. Cage is 100% muscle and just beat the living crap out of Allin for a majority of this, but when it was said and done, Allin found a way to win, a way to survive. As Tony Khan made it official, Allin vs. Kevin Knight next week for the TNT Title.)

Cage came out rocking a bodybuilding medal, as Allin immediately tried a Tope, but bounced off Cage like brick wall. Cage walked up the stairs with Allin in a suplex position and dumped him on the stage. Cage hit a brutal suplex from the ring out onto the stage and I think the impact effected Cage himself in the process. Taz said Cage eats meals bigger than Allin, as Cage did reps with Allin before hitting a F5 into commercial. Cage re-positions the ring steps ringside, continues beating the hell out of Allin, who cleared the steps, launched off of them with a shotgun dropkick. Allin followed with a Coffin Drop off the top to the floor, as back inside, Allin went back up, but was cut-off. Cage went up with Allin, who hit an Avalanche Code Red for two. Allin hit a low Tope with Cage seated on the stage, as Cage answered with a stiff bounce back lariat. Cage pressed Allin high and just chucked him off the stage, with Allin’s head smacking the post in the process, which was unprotected and violent as hell (even for Allin) in the replay.

Allin just broke the count, but was pulled right back out by Cage, who went to pull him up the steps, but Allin used his belt to sweep out the feet and hit a Coffin Drop off the top onto the stairs. Cage beat the count at 9, but rolled right into multiple Coffin Drops for the Allin victory.

Match Result: Darby Allin defeated Brian Cage

-A pissed off ProtOkada are backstage, as Kyle Fletcher said he’ll defend against anyone and will be the greatest International Champion of all time and he wants Bandido. For the first time ever, he wants The Protostar vs. The Most Wanted at Redemption. Okada stood behind Fletcher and kind of just shrugged his shoulders, not very impressed with Fletcher’s International Title aspirations.

-Renee Paquette (the Iron-woman of tonight’s Dynamite as this is her 6th or 7th segment) is backstage with Kevin Knight & Don Callis, who said Knight can handle everything on his plate. Woe is Kenny Omega when Callis gave him the World Title, suck it up, buttercup, everything good Omega has had in life has been because of Callis, who orders Knight to take care of that punk and become Jet-2-Belt. Callis leaves and Speedball Bailey walks in saying the façade Knight is putting on, it’s not working. The fans & Bailey love Knight and ready to forgive him, but Knight said he doesn’t need his love, let him be.

Mercedes Mone & AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne & Lena Kross) vs. Willow Nightingale, Hyan & Maya World

(For a match that’s entrances started at a few minutes passed the top of the hour, this was given a lot of time. Everyone had their chances to shine here and the crowd cheered for everyone not named Kross or Bayne. Commentary really put over World here and her new nickname of The It Girl (makes you wonder why she didn’t win the Owen altogether, but I digress). Despite the valiant effort from the babyface team, it was not a surprise that Mone won it in her hometown and pinning Hyan makes the most sense here if she was going to get the W.)

Boston crowd loudly behind the heel Mone to start, as things broke down early, with Bayne & Kross taking double dropkicks from World & Hyan, but caught both on cross body attempts to deliver stereo Fall Away Slams. World & Hyan still battled back and tagged in Nightingale, who was loudly cheered, as she missed the first enzugiri attempt, connecting on the second. Fast tags from the babyfaces, who hit locomotion corner strikes on Kross, as Hyan & World hit an assisted head scissors into a cannonball in the corner. Mone tried to step in, but was dumped outside onto her partner, where a trifecta of somersault sentons delivered to the heels as things went to commercial 10 minutes past the top of the hour. I need to point out that it’s late in the show and we’re in break, so Taz brought up Hyan’s brother “High-Off” and sent the entire commentary desk into giggle fits.

World was worked over a majority of break, as we got a double lungblower/double German on World & Hyan from Mone & Bayne. Mone missed a corner Meteora, wanted a suplex, but had it reversed by World, as Kross made the tag and World fought free to tag in Nightingale. House of fire was Nightingale, who wiped out Bayne with a corner splash and boot, Mone was clipped on the apron, as Nightingale hit a spinebuster on Bayne for two. Match starts breaking down, as Hyan hit a corner boot on Mone, but was taken out by Kross. World flew in to take out Kross, but Bayne saved her partner. Nightingale in with a discus lariat on Bayne for the reset.

Mone & World tag in officially and have a fast sequence, until they trade rolling cradles for near falls. World hits a shotgun dropkick, wanted a suplex, but Mone countered into the Three Amigos, as she went up top for a Frog Splash, but World got the knees up. Kross tags in, World gets an up kick, but there’s a spot where they do a back suplex, but Kross landed rough on her arm and World on her head. Hyan tags in with a dropkick, staggering Kross, who backdropped out of a piledriver. Blind tag by Bayne, as Divine Dominion ramp up the offense with a Bayne release German and Falcon Arrow, doing the deal for a near fall, as Nightingale broke it up. Kross saves her partner and they go for the double chokeslam on Nightingale, who fought them both off, sent Kross crashing outside, ducked a Bayne lariat and hit a huge Pounce. Mone in and launched Nightingale out, as Hyan, who made a blind tag, got a jackknife pin for two and then a brutal Spear folding Mone up for another near fall. Both ladies up, as Mone was able to hit a Mone Maker for the win.
