It’s Sunday night and you know what that means. We didn’t waste any time as we got our opening match started for the second half of Collision.

Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong vs. The Lethal Twist (Jay Lethal & Lee Johnson) (w/ Blake Christian)

Lethal put Cassidy’s jacket on Johnson prior to the match after it was thrown aside as he and Strong got the match going.

Lethal did his Ric Flair strut to taunt Strong before the two got in a bit of chain wrestling going early on in this match. On commentary, Tony Schiavone mentioned the passing of Dennis Condry and wished his family condolences. Strong threw Lethal to his team’s corner and Cassidy tagged in. Strong grabbed Cassidy and threw him into a prone Lethal in the corner. As Strong held Lethal in place, Cassidy got on the top rope and then decided to hit a lackadaisical elbow.

Lethal tagged in Johnson as the two hit a nice double team move on Cassidy. Meanwhile, Cassidy attempted a Beach Break but Johnson countered it. The two exchanged standing switches for a bit until Cassidy escaped a full nelson by putting his hands in his pockets. In true Cassidy fashion, Orange hit his signature hands-in-pocket dropkick on Johnson. When he tried to do the same on Lethal, he was caught instead. Strong got clotheslined outside by Lethal, as Johnson intercepted Cassidy’s attempted dive with a hard lariat. Outside the ring, Blake Christian was now sporting Cassidy’s Canadian tuxedo. In the ring, Johnson dropped Cassidy with a vertical suplex for a two-count as we went to a break.

Back from the break as Cassidy tried to reach out to his corner for a tag. Lethal tagged in, which allowed him and Johnson to batter Cassidy with consecutive chops, followed by a Blake Christian attack on Cassidy in a tree-of-woe position while the referee was distracted. The Lethal Twist continued their control over this match as they attempted a double team move. However, Cassidy fought out of th predicament as he sent Lethal over the ropes and dodged a running charge from Johnson. After a struggle, Caasidy finally tagged in Strong, who unleashed a flurry of offense on Johnson and Lethal, with backbreakers and back suplexes galore. Olympic Slam on Johnson by Strong only managed to get a two-count. Johnson pushed Strong onto the corner, while Cassidy was prepping for a diving attack. This allowed Johnson and Lethal to hit double team dives on Cassidy. Strong broke up the count by pushing Lethal onto Johnson.

Cassidy countered a Lethal suplex into a Stundog Millionaire as Strong again grabbed Cassidy and threw him onto Lethal. Johnson fell victim to an End of Heartache from Strong in the ring, as Cassidy got the pin and win for the team.

After the match, Strong got on the microphone and said that he owed Cassidy and everyone an explanation. He talked about how he took the time to understand that the change that needed to happen was within himself. As such, Strong officially declared himself a member of The Conglomeration.

They were interrupted by David Finlay and Clark Connors of The Dogs on the big screen. Finlay said that the closer The Dogs were to death, the more they felt alive. Connors then issued a challenge to Cassidy and Strong to a match on Dynamite this Wednesday.

Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong def. The Lethal Twist via pinfall

A solid opener for this second half of Collision. I enjoyed this a great deal and Roddy officially joining the Conglomeration and immediately getting into a tag match against The Dogs for this Wednesday was nice to see.

– Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron challenged the new AEW Women’s Tag Champions, the Divine Dominion, to a rematch for the belts.

The Divine Dominion (Lena Kross & Megan Bayne) vs. Alex Gracia vs. Vipress

Bayne easilly withstood Vipress’s attempt at a running attack as she then took her foe to the Divine Dominion corner. Kross tagged in, which allowed her and Bayne to dominate with running attacks to a hapless Kross.

The AEW Women’s Tag Champions then showed their dominace with stereo fallaway slams and lariats on Gracia and Vipress. With Gracia out of the way, Bayne and Kross put an end to this with a double chokeslam and a pin on Vipress.

The Divine Dominion def. Alex Gracia & Vipress via pinfall

Not really much to say with regards to this match as it was basically a showcase for the new AEW Women’s Tag Champs, who are definitely gelling well in this role as a dominant tag team. Nothing wrong with a squash match to show that.

“Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa vs. Lio Rush

Rush stared at Ciampa with a crazed smile on his face as he offered a handshake to him when the bell rang. Ciampa rejected, which prompted Rush to use an unorthodox running game to leave Ciampa confused with an attack that sent him outside. Rush then paced on all fours and hit a Gollum-like suicide dive to the outside to keep Ciampa grounded. Outside the ring, Ciampa dropped Rush on top of the barricade and hit a running knee to flatten him. As the action re-entered the ring, Rush hit a hurricanrana on Ciampa, followed with a clothesline. Ciampa dodged a shoulder attack from Rush, as he then sent him crashing into the ringpost. This stunned Rush long enough for Ciampa to dump him to the outside with another running knee. We took a break at this stage of the bout.

Slam Dunk Sunday returned from commercial as Ciampa was looking for a high-impact move, but Rush was just too fast and he hit his foe with an enzuigiri. Lio avoided a powerbomb and hit a low-angle springboard stunner on Ciampa for the near-fall. With Ciampa down on the mat, Rush headed up top for a high-risk move. Ciampa rolled out of the way and into the apron, as Rush responded with an attempted running attack. Ciampa dodged that and a thrust kick as he looked for Project Ciampa. Rush countered and hit two consecutive stunner-like manuevers on Ciampa, followed by a Blue Thunder powerbomb for the two-count.

Rush slithered back up to his feet as he and Ciampa exchanged strikes. Ciampa and Rush contributed to AEW’s growing biting epidemic as the two bit each other’s hands. Ciampa threw Rush with a hard Irish Whip into the corner, as he then followed this up with Project Ciampa. One, two… 2.99999999!!!!!!!!!!! Ciampa exposed his knee and absolutely pasted Rush with his deadly running knee strike for the victory.

Tommaso Ciampa def. Lio Rush via pinfall

This was a fantastic match between Rush and Ciampa, and I felt it was elevated significantly by Rush’s “new” character — which is a carryover of his “Blackheart” gimmick from the indies. I enjoyed how the character work informed Rush’s in-ring style and how that meshed with Ciampa. It made for an unexpectedly entertaining match here on Slam Dunk Sunday.

– A video promo hyping Omega vs. Strickland, plus the return of MJF for this Wednesday’s Dynamite was shown.

World Trios Championship: JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey) (c) & Mistico vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Josh Alexander, & El Clon)

Our main event got underway with Mistico and El Clon as the legal men for their respective teams. Alexander attacked Mistico from behind as Clon took out Bailey and Knight in the corner. The DCF got the upper hand here as they laid out Mistico and Knight at ringside. Back in the ring, Bailey was caught in a double team situation by Alexander and Clon. Knight tried to help out, but was felled by a scoop slam by Alexander to the knees of Clon. Mistico rejoined the match and hit Clon with a kick, followed by the hurricanrana from the apron. Mistco then took out Alexander and Takeshita with a double springboard elbow. Mistico held his own against Takeshita and Clon as the DCF was sent retreating to outside the ring. This led to Bailey, Knight, and Mistico hitting triple-stereo suicide dives on the DCF trio at ringside, which took us to a break in the action.

The main event returned from break as Clon was stomping away on Bailey before Takeshita tagged in to continue the attack. Takeshita tried for his clothesline, but Bailey met him with a superkick as both men went down and struggled to their corners. Knight tagged in and missed on a leaping attack as Takeshita dropped him with his Blue Thunder Bomb for a near-fall. In the corner, Takeshita set up Knight for a running knee, but he missed on it. Raging Fire attempt by Takeshita was turned into a DDT from Knight, as Mistico and Clon tagged in for their respective teams.

Clon hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for the near-fall on Mistico. On the apron, Clon was going for a springboard attack, but Mistico intercepted and walked across the ropes for a hurricanrana on Clon. Takeshita interrupted the count as Clon missed with the springboard moonsault and got sent out of the ring. Mistico leapt from the top rope and took down Takeshita and Clon with a double crossbody. In the ring, Knight tagged in and missed with a dive from the top rope. El Clon hit a Pele Kick on Knight as he then hit his unique running springboard moonsault for a two-count. Takeshita slid into the ring and tried to get involved, but Knight got him with the springboard clothesline. Mistico tagged in and eventually connected with La Mistica as Clon immediately tapped.

It should be noted that Josh Alexander sustained an injury in this match and was absent for the latter half.

JetSpeed & Mistico def. The Don Callis Family via pinfall to retain the AEW World Trios Titles

*********************************

A solid main event to wrap up Slam Dunk Sunday, and credit where its due for essentially having to come up with a way to keep the match going even with the aforementioned Josh Alexander injury pretty much forcing a new finish to be constructed on the fly. Mistico continues to show why he rightfully won the Wrestling Observer’s Wrestler of the Year Award for 2025 as he definitely shined even in this trios setting. I’d be up for seeing him and El Clon face off in singles action down the line.

As far as the rest of the night is concerned, Collision’s reputation as a “cozy wrestling” show that you can sit down and enjoy continued with this second half. Even after airing late after NCAA March Madness action, this episode was good and I enjoyed it from start to finish. It might not have been top-flight AEW action, but there was never a dull moment throughout and sometimes, even “just okay” isn’t inherently bad.
