AEW wrestlers to challenge for CMLL titles at Arena Mexico on Friday

The Death Riders are headed to Arena Mexico on Friday.

During CMLL’s event on Sunday, champion Gran Guerrero issued an open challenge for any AEW wrestler to challenge him for his title. On Tuesday, CMLL posted a video of Claudio Castagnoli responding to challenge. CMLL later posted the full lineup for the show, which includes Castagnoli challenging for the belt and Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia vs. the CMLL Tag Team Champions Angel de Oro and Niebla Roja.

Castagnoli says in the video:

“Be careful what you wish for because I just got my visa to accept your challenge for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship. The Death Riders, myself Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia are coming to Arena Mexico.”

The Opps’ Powerhouse Hobbs also indicated recently that he’s interested in wrestling Guerrero for the belt. He responded to a series of posts by Fightful indicating as such recently.

  • Finals of the Leyenda Azul Tournament: Soberano Jr. vs. Barbaro Cavernario vs. Mistico
  • CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Gran Guerrero defends against Claudio Castagnoli
