AEW wrestlers to challenge for CMLL titles

CMLL announced Wednesday that multiple AEW wrestlers will be challenging for CMLL titles on upcoming events in Mexico.

On Wednesday’s CMLL Informa show, the promotion revealed that AEW’s The Beast Mortos will challenge Gran Guerrero for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship in Arena Mexico on Sunday, November 23.

Mortos made his return to Arena Mexico earlier this year for the first time in nearly 14 years after being banned from wrestling in the building after jumping from CMLL to AAA earlier in his career.

CMLL also revealed on Informa that AEW’s Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia of The Death Riders will challenge for the promotion’s World Tag Team Championship currently held by Angel de Oro and Niebla Roja. A date for that contest has yet to be revealed.

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite and Collision three-hour block also featured a CMLL presence with Mascara Dorada and Kazuchika Okada squaring off in a Double Jeopardy match. That bout set up a new CMLL title match for Saturday’s AEW Full Gear Saturday Tailgate Brawl show.
