AEW’s Anthony Ogogo appears at PROGRESS Wrestling event

AEW talent Anthony Ogogo made his PROGRESS Wrestling debut at today’s Chapter 127 event at the Electric Ballroom in London, England.

Ogogo’s unadvertised appearance came in the form of a match against Hari Singh, which Ogogo won with the Tower of London finisher.

Ogogo’s appearance is notable, as it marks the first time that a contracted AEW talent has wrestled in the United Kingdom, according to a PROGRESS press release.

The political implications of the match are worth noting as well, as the PROGRESS event is currently scheduled to be added to WWE’s video library on Peacock and WWE Network next month.

Today’s match was just the twelfth of Ogogo’s entire career. He returned to AEW in December 2021 following a six-month absence related to an eye surgery. Ogogo has had a total of ten eye surgeries.

Ogogo is a 2012 Olympic bronze medalist in boxing. His most high-profile wrestling match came at AEW Double or Nothing in May 2021, where he lost to Cody Rhodes.
