AEW’s Leyla Hirsch undergoes surgery for torn ACL

Leyla Hirsch has revealed that she suffered a torn ACL last month.

In a tweet on Thursday, Hirsch announced that she’s undergone surgery for a torn ACL. The injury happened during a match that was being taped for Dark: Elevation on April 6.

“On April [6th], during AEW Dark Elevation, I suffered an injury. After landing on my feet from a moonsault, I tore my ACL. Today I was finally able to get my surgery,” Hirsch wrote. “Thank you to everyone for the support . I promise to come back an improved, leaner, meaner more Legit Athlete.”

Hirsch was facing local competitor Christina Marie in the Dark: Elevation match. Hirsch injured her knee on a somersault flip out of the corner. Hirsch landed feet-first, went down as soon as she landed, and grabbed her knee. The match was stopped and never aired.

Prior to her injury, Hirsch defeated Red Velvet on the March 23 episode of Dynamite. There was then a post-match angle where Kris Statlander saved Red Velvet when Hirsch wouldn’t let go of an armbar.

Hirsch also defeated Ella Envy on the April 4 edition of Dark: Elevation.

Hirsch would be expected to be out of action for several months due to the torn ACL.
