Challenge issued for IWGP Global title match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door
A challenge for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship has been issued.
On Thursday, PAC issued a challenge to Shota Umino, who won the title on June 14 at Dominion in a three-way match with Drilla Moloney and former champion Andrade El Idolo. After the match, Umino was attacked by Gabe Kidd.
In a video posted to AEW’s social media, PAC told Umino to travel across the Pacific to San Jose for the upcoming pay-per-view.
PAC said:
“Next Sunday, June 28, is Forbidden Door. I’ll be there. Why don’t you be there? Why don’t you fly across the Pacific and come fight for your honor?
“And whilst you’re at it, why don’t you bring me the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship for the ride?”
“I will help you understand exactly who the Death Riders are, and I will help you comprehend why we do what we do.”
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 will be the fifth annual Forbidden Door event. It is set for Sunday, June 28 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
