Chris Jericho wants career to be remembered ‘like a great rock and roll band’
Whenever he decides to hang up his wrestling boots, Chris Jericho hopes to be remembered in the same way a great rock and roll band would be.
The 55-year-old Jericho isn’t rushing retirement and believes that he is still performing at a high level. While he’s become a more polarizing figure in recent years, Jericho told Fox News Digital that he believes fans will miss him when he does step away. He compared his longevity to a band like a Rolling Stones. You might not like every evolution they go through, but you like that they were around making music.
“I think it’s like a great rock and roll band, you know?” Jericho said about how he wants to be remembered. “I mean, the Rolling Stones just put out a new album, and it’s amazing, but the Stones have been 60 years and some of the eras you like, some of the eras you hate, some of the eras you wish they would have gone away, and some of the eras you wish they would have done more, and you’re still glad that they’re here. I think when I’m done, people will be sad that I’m not around anymore.”
There were rumors that Jericho could return to WWE around the start of 2026, but he ended up staying with AEW, where he’s now feuding with Tommaso Ciampa. Jericho was the first-ever AEW World Champion when the company was founded in 2019.
Chris Jericho responds to social media criticism —
Responding to the criticism he’s gotten on social media for sticking around too long, Jericho told Fox News Digital that he always gives 1000 percent whenever he’s in the ring.
“I think a lot of the people that you mentioned, social media wise, that don’t like me just because I’m still doing this will realize like, hey, we had something pretty cool there, we should have been watching a little bit more because all I ever do is give my best 1,000 percent for whatever situation I’m in to make it better, to make my opponent better, to make me better, to make the company better, to make the show better, and I’m very proud of all the work that I’ve done,” Jericho said.
Jericho added that he still loves wrestling and is proud that he gets to keep living his dream.
“I live my dream doing something that I always wanted to do and here I’m doing it almost longer than anybody else at a high level,” he said. “I think that’s something to be proud of.”
