Darby Allin confirms skatepark project with Tony Hawk has received county approval

Darby Allin appeared at an indie event recently to promote the public skateboard park he’s building with Tony Hawk in McDonough, Georgia.

Allin announced plans to build the park this summer, mentioning it in a video package that aired on the August 30 edition of AEW Collision. He recently appeared at a 1FW event in Georgia and confirmed that he’s received approval to build the park.

“Heritage Park, Henry County is giving us a whole plot of land to build a skate park,” Allin said in an interview with 1FW.

The county is providing 37,500 square feet of land, which will repurpose an arena into a year-round “skate and creative space.” The project was approved in February 2025.

“I moved here in 2019 and realized the nearest skate park was 30 minutes away. I was like, this is crazy. Because honestly, I wouldn’t be here without skateboarding, and I mean that,” Allin continued.

The project is receiving technical assistance from Tony Hawk’s charity, The Skatepark Project.

A fundraising page for the park has been launched at DarbyAllin.Funraise.org. The page highlights the benefits of community skateparks, stating: “This isn’t just a place to skate. It’s a platform for growth, belonging, and opportunity—a place where McDonough’s youth can thrive for generations.”

Up next for Allin is this week’s AEW Dynamite, where he’s scheduled to face Daniel Garcia as part of the Blood & Guts Advantage Battle announced by Tony Khan on Tuesday.
