Eddie Kingston undergoes knee surgery
Nearly two months after tearing his ACL and meniscus, Eddie Kingston has undergone knee surgery.
Kingston made an Instagram post on Tuesday sharing a photo from the hospital and announcing that his surgery has been completed. “Well it’s done,” he wrote. “So what up!”
At NJPW’s Resurgence event in California this May, Kingston suffered a torn ACL, torn meniscus, and a fractured leg while facing Gabe Kidd in a no ropes Last Man Standing match. Kingston needed to wait for his fractured leg to heal before he could have knee surgery done. PWInsider first reported in May that July 8 was scheduled to be Kingston’s surgery date.
The injury happened at the end of Kingston vs. Kidd when Kingston’s leg hit the guardrail while being suplexed through a table. Kidd won the match to become the new NJPW Strong Openweight Champion.
Though Kingston was injured, he still took part in an angle at Resurgence where he was confronted by Jack Perry and laid out by The Young Bucks. But Kingston’s injury meant that he was unable to compete in the Elite vs. Team AEW Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing. The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada & Perry defeated FTR, Bryan Danielson & Darby Allin in the match.
Kingston expects to be out of action for 10 months, meaning May 2025 would be his return date.
