John Cena responds to Adam Copeland’s tribute at AEW All Out
John Cena and Adam Copeland have been paying tribute to each other from afar as the two former rivals wind down their careers.
During the FTR vs. Adam Copeland & Christian Cage match at AEW All Out, Copeland performed Cena’s signature Five-Knuckle Shuffle and Attitude Adjustment. This came after Cena similarly paid tribute to Copeland on the September 6 episode of WWE SmackDown. Cena used a spear in his match against Sami Zayn on the show, with Michael Cole saying the move may have been an homage to Roman Reigns, but Corey Graves implying that it was for Copeland. Following the show, Cena posted a picture of Copeland (as Edge in WWE) to his Instagram.
After Copeland’s tribute at AEW All Out, Cena again posted an image of Edge on his Instagram.
Copeland commented on Cena’s tribute earlier this week, saying, ““I saw a clip a couple of days ago where he did the whole [spear] setup and everything… It’s super fun. Yeah, it’s just fun.”
“With John and I from day one, it just clicked. And I think it was, our characters were polar opposite. I knew what the assignment was and so did he. I think you had two guys that were very willing to do what we had to do to get us both over.“
