Josh Barnett responds to Bully Ray’s Jon Moxley ‘fraud’ comments
Former UFC heavyweight Josh Barnett has taken exception to some comments Bully Ray made about Jon Moxley.
On social media today, there have been quotes circulating from an episode of Busted Open Radio where Bully Ray criticized the Death Riders, saying they do not add anything to AEW. Bully Ray also was critical of Death Riders leader Moxley for “playing out his pro wrestling fantasies.” The WWE Hall of Famer is quoted as calling Moxley a “fraud” and saying that he could beat the sh*t out of Moxley.
It’s not clear how recent these comments from Bully Ray are, but Barnett responded to them by sticking up for Moxley and offering to deliver a “legendary” asskicking to Bully Ray.
“Interesting take here ‘Bully’. Mox can handle himself just fine, so he doesn’t need me to fight any battles for him, but if you ever have the itch to feel what it would be like to have your ass kicked so thoroughly to the point of epic humiliation, I can help you with that,” Barnett wrote. “I can not only ‘beat the shit out of you’, but do so in a way as to make your ass kicking legendary. For you, any time. Just ask.”
A wrestler and MMA fighter, Barnett competed for NJPW over the weekend at a Yuji Nagata-produced Blue Justice event. He teamed with Nagata & Aaron Wolf to defeat Ren Narita, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Yujiro Takahashi.
Barnett and Moxley are friends and have twice wrestled against each other, working matches for Bloodsport in 2021 and 2024 when Barnett still partnered with GCW for those events.
PRODUCE offers to host Bully Ray boxing match —
PRODUCE Wrestling, which has a partnership with MyAEW, also responded to Bully Ray’s comments and offered to host a boxing match for charity. They tagged both Moxley and Barnett in their tweet, seemingly as potential opponents.
“Hey @bullyray5150 I have an opportunity, venue, etc. for you guys to put the gloves on for charity for a good cause in New York City. I’d love to do this as a fundraiser and donate the funds to Bronx Legends,” PRODUCE wrote.
“If you’re serious, let’s talk. I have a great PPV deal with @myaewofficial. If you’re just playing tough, let us know. @JoshLBarnett @JonMoxley”
Moxley is the current AEW Continental Champion and is focused on his upcoming title defense against Bandido at Forbidden Door 2026 this Sunday.
