Keith Lee says health has been ‘good for quite some time’ amid AEW absence

Keith Lee is reassuring fans that his health is fine amid his ongoing absence from AEW programming.

“Again, I am quite fine,” Lee tweeted in response to a fan today. “It is not up to me when it comes to a return. But blessings to you as well.”

Lee also responded to someone who said they wanted to start a fan campaign to get him back on AEW TV.

“I’ve been good for quite some time, though I do appreciate the concern. But no campaign required,” he wrote. “Things happen the way they are suppose to, and eventually, the purpose will show itself.”

Lee did not wrestle for the entirety of 2024 and has not competed in 2025 so far. His most recent match took place on an episode of Collision in December 2023, defeating Brian Cage. He was supposed to wrestle at AEW’s World End pay-per-view at the end of 2023 before having to withdraw from the card due to an undisclosed injury. Lee said he had been dealing with the injury for more than a year and it had been “mostly well taken care of,” but the injury got worse leading into Worlds End. He noted in January 2024 that he would be undergoing double surgeries.

The 40-year-old Lee is a former AEW Tag Team Champion, holding the titles with Swerve Strickland in 2022. He previously held both the NXT Championship and NXT North American Championship during his WWE career. While with WWE, Lee navigated a scary health situation in 2021 when his heart became inflamed after battling COVID-19.
