Kenny Omega doesn’t want people to have to worry about his health

After missing 18 months of in-ring action due to diverticulitis, Kenny Omega has returned to a somewhat full-time schedule with AEW.
However, that doesn’t mean that he’s still not feeling the effects of the disease.
In a Friday interview, Omega told Shakiel Mahjouri of SHAK Wrestling that he still has good days and bad days.
“I’ve got to go out there and I’ve got to give my best. And not only do I have to do that but I’m trying to do that without making it very clearly obvious that there are bad days and good days for Kenny Omega.
“I don’t want people to have to worry about me, and I want to be able to do a performance that I can be proud of and that my opponent can benefit from without people having to worry and without even further endangering myself on top of that.”
Nearly a full year after his return, Omega is still learning the limits of his body.
“Some days, I might feel like I have the answer and some days I don’t,” he said. “And I haven’t completely pieced together everything, but I’m getting there and it’s getting closer. I’m feeling more and more confident as days go by.”
The irony is not lost on Omega that despite his high-risk style, it’s not an in-ring injury that is limiting him physically.
“It’s a sickness and I could not have prepared myself for it,” he said. “I never saw it coming. I’ve always been trying to strive for the best physical health that I could possibly be in. I don’t miss my vitamins. I make sure to take all my vitamins and supplementation to keep myself healthy. Not to get big, not to look like a bodybuilder (but) to keep myself healthy and to keep myself in a state where I can perform at a high level. So for that to just happen, that’s just probably bad luck.”
Omega will be teaming with Jurassic Express to face the Young Bucks and Josh Alexander at AEW’s Full Gear this Saturday.
