Kenny Omega to appear at AEW Dynamite in Winnipeg

Kenny Omega will be in the building when AEW Dynamite takes place from his hometown of Winnipeg next week.

The Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada announced today that Omega will be appearing when AEW comes to the venue on Wednesday, May 1. That night’s event features a live Dynamite episode and a Rampage taping.

“WINNIPEG… we have a secret,” the arena’s social media accounts wrote. “We will be seeing Kenny Omega at AEW in Winnipeg on May 1!”

At the AEW Dynasty post-show media scrum, Tony Khan said it would be great to have Omega appear in Winnipeg even if he isn’t ready to return to the ring yet.

Omega has been away from AEW since December 2023 due to diverticulitis. In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter last week, Dave Meltzer gave an update on the surgery that Omega is expected to undergo:

[Omega] also talked of having a bit of a stay in the hospital coming up. That is about surgery due to Diverticulitis. The surgery has been talked about for months and it looks like he will have it and is waiting for a date. He had tried to avoid it but as time went on, it was becoming more and more likely that wouldn’t be the case.

During Omega’s absence, there was a storyline where The Young Bucks “fired” Omega from The Elite and replaced him with Kazuchika Okada.

Omega has started a video game stream on Twitch in recent weeks.
