Kevin Nash reacts to praise from ‘super talented’ AEW champion MJF

They’re from different eras, but MJF and Kevin Nash have a mutual respect for each other and the impact each has had on the wrestling industry.

MJF, the current AEW World Champion, praised Nash and the late Scott Hall during an appearance on the Shut Up and Wrestle podcast, saying they made the wrestling industry much “healthier” by setting a precedent with the large contracts they got to jump from WWE to WCW in the 1990s. MJF believes that, no matter how you feel about the nWo as an act, every wrestler should be thanking Nash, Hall, and their agent Barry Bloom for helping to normalize high guaranteed salaries in pro wrestling.

On Kliq This this week, Nash reacted to MJF’s comments by calling them “kind” and expressing how big of an MJF fan he is. When MJF did his worked shoot promo on AEW boss Tony Khan in 2022, it tricked someone even as experienced as Nash and made Nash believe MJF legitimately wanted to jump to WWE. Nash thinks it’s great that someone is still able to make him feel like that every once in a while.

“I think he knows how much I appreciate him. We’ve had conversations. I think he’s super talented,” Nash said. “I remember when he did the one where he was telling f***ing Tony Khan, ‘F***ing fire me, fire me, Tony, f***ing fire me.’ They cut his mic off. I remember I was watching it live and I just thought like, to the point where I’m like, ‘Man, he must want to go to f***ing New York.’ And I went, ‘Oh, f***, man, you got me.'”

Co-host Sean Oliver asked Nash if he believes his own legacy in wrestling will be the way he advanced things on the business side, rather than what he did on screen.

“Well, it sure as f*** isn’t going to be the sh*t I did off the top rope,” Nash replied.

Nash said he’s always treated wrestling as a business because, in every type of job no matter where you work, the bottom line is always what matters most. A two-time WWE Hall of Famer, Nash was inducted individually in 2015 and then again as a member of the nWo as part of the class of 2020.
