Kota Ibushi AEW contract update

Ahead of competing at Forbidden Door, Kota Ibushi has signed a contract extension with AEW.
It was revealed last night that Ibushi will be teaming with Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Darby Allin & Hiroshi Tanahashi in a lights out cage match at the August 24 pay-per-view in London. They’ll be facing off against Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, The Young Bucks & Gabe Kidd.
That wasn’t the only news for Ibushi, though, with him announcing in an Instagram post that he’s signed a two-year contract extension with AEW. The Instagram post included video of Ibushi riding in a private jet.
“This was amazing! A turning point in my life. I never thought I’d get to ride in a private jet! And I signed a two-year contract renewal,” Ibushi wrote.
Ibushi debuted for AEW in July 2023, signing a contract that allows him to still compete for other promotions in Japan. Ibushi’s career since then has been severely impacted by injuries, but he’s active now and back competing in AEW. He’s had three matches for the promotion over the past couple of months.
The 43-year-old Ibushi is a former top star for NJPW and DDT Pro Wrestling in Japan.
