Kyle Fletcher says winning Trios titles with Mark Davis ‘meant the world’
Earlier this year, Kyle Fletcher won the AEW Trios World titles with fellow Don Callis Family members Kazuchika Okada and Mark Davis.
Recently speaking to WhatCulture Wrestling, Fletcher opened up in detail about the feeling of winning the Trios titles with Okada and, especially, Davis.
“Apart from the stuff you get to do yourself, seeing your friends and the people you love succeed — the way I feel about watching Skye wrestle, that’s almost sometimes better than the stuff you accomplish on your own. Davis, we traveled the world together for coming up to 10 years now. That kind of bond, you don’t get very often,” Fletcher said.
“He’s one of my best friends in the entire world, and he really did get the s**t end of the stick for a little while. There was a couple of injuries, and yeah, he really had some bad luck. I’ve always known how good he was, people in the UK know how good he is, so to me it was just matter of time when things started to click for him.”
Before Fletcher joined The Don Callis Family a few years ago, he was a part of The Aussie Open tag team with Mark Davis. After Fletcher’s jump to a solo career, Davis found himself lost in the mix before forming a new tag team with Jake Doyle. Despite Doyle’s injury, Davis continued his run in the top spot with several opportunities, including the Trios titles win.
“Now he’s kind of in that spot where I was back in 2023 when he got hurt. I was given these really awesome opportunities, and I was able to take the ball and run with it. Now, he’s in that same spot, and he’s given opportunity after opportunity, and he’s smashing every single one out of the park like I always knew he would,” Fletcher continued. “He looks great, he moves great, he’s kind of putting all of the pieces together. It’s really rewarding for me to be able to see. The fact that we were able to be world trios champs together and get that reunion, it meant the world.”
Fletcher, Okada, and Davis won the Trios titles on March 4 before losing them on the March 15 edition of AEW Revolution.
