Mascara Dorada says getting AEW contract was ‘huge surprise’
Mascara Dorada wasted no time accepting dual contracts with AEW and CMLL when the opportunity was presented.
Speaking with Denise Salcedo, Dorada stated that signing with AEW and CMLL came as a surprise since it was limited to wrestlers. He instantly took up the opportunity which was a childhood dream come true. He further expressed his interest in working with wrestlers globally, across promotions.
“Well, it was a huge surprise, since the only wrestler with a dual contract at the time was Hechicero. When they told me, I didn’t hesitate for a single second, because this has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid, I always wanted to work for two companies, since there are very few wrestlers in the world who have two, three or four contracts. I wanted to be part of that very small group of wrestlers, because for me, it’s a real pleasure to wrestle all over the world.”
Dorada cited Mistico as a huge reference in his wrestling style in addition to Andrade El Idolo’s contributions to revolutionize the industry.
“Many of the wrestlers who have the same style that I have, obviously I have them as a reference. One of them is Mistico; he has always been a reference for all Mexican wrestlers, and whoever says he is not, they are lying because in reality Mistico has always been a reference fighter. Mistico, Volador Jr., Andrade was also one of the references. I think they revolutionized wrestling and that I have always liked their style.”
He added Will Ospreay and PAC’s aerial style of wrestling also helped shape in-ring abilities.
“A very aerial style, very acrobatic, flights, punishments, many of those things. Same now, when I have more experience, because I have other types of references, not like Will Ospreay, PAC, who even so at some point can become my rivals, but they do not take away that admiration that I have for being very agile and very complete wrestlers.”
Dorada first appeared on AEW in 2024 representing CMLL with Hechicero, Místico, and Volador Jr. In January this year, Dorada confirmed that he had officially signed with AEW making him one of the rare few to sign with the two promotions simultaneously.
