Maya World reveals her AEW dream opponent following Mercedes Mone match

Maya World vs Mercedes Mone AEW Forbidden Door 2026

AEW performer Maya World recently revealed who her dream opponent is in All Elite Wrestling following her match against Mercedes Mone at Forbidden Door. Speaking to Augusta Free Press, Maya confirmed that Hikaru Shida is someone she really wants to face in the company:

“I’m here in Roanoke now, but I don’t have a match announced yet. I will be watching [Hikaru Shida defend the TBS Championship against Harley Cameron], actually. She’s the new champ. There’s new challengers. I could be one of her new challengers. So, hopefully one day I get to face her, too, because that’s definitely a dream match of mine also.”

Maya World’s recent run in AEW

Maya World of course lost in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament to Mercedes Mone. Many are calling the match a star-making performance for Maya (like our own Bryan Alvarez). Since then she has beaten Julia Hart but then didn’t get the win in the 1 Contendership Casino Gauntlet which also featured Willow Nightingale, Athena, Julia Hart, Mina Shirakawa, Rina, Skye Blue and Thunder Rosa.
