Hikaru Shida vs. Maya World TBS title match result from AEW Redemption

Hikaru Shida vs. Maya World | AEW Redemption

Maya World is TBS Champion.

World defeated Hikaru Shida in an upset to win her first title in AEW on Sunday night during Redemption. The finish had the two exchanging nearfalls until World connected with her bridging fallaway slam, pinning Shida to win the title.

This ends Shida’s reign with the title after only 25 days. She won the vacant title in a six-way Survival of the Fittest match that took place on the July 1 episode of Dynamite in San Diego.

The rise of Maya World

World had been in a tag team with Hyan when she was suddenly put in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, subbing for an injured Sareee. Despite her brother tragically passing away in a car accident shortly before, World made it to the finals of the tournament before ultimately losing to Mercedes Mone at Forbidden Door.

Sunday’s title match was set up after Shida retained the TBS title over Queen Aminata on a recent episode of Collision. Shida continued the beatdown until World came down for the save.
