Mercedes Mone | AEW

Mercedes Mone advanced to the finals of the AEW women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

She picked up the win on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite with a win over Stardom’s Hazuki as part of the first semifinal in the women’s tourney.

Mone defeated Hazuki following an extremely closely contested match. In the closing moments of the bout, she trapped Hazuki in her Statement Maker submission hold, forcing her to tap out.

With the win, Mone will face the winner of Saturday’s Athena vs. Maya World semifinal on Collision. The finals are set for this month’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view with the tourney winner challenging for the World title at August’s All In.

Mone was a surprise entrant, subbing in for the injured Willow Nightingale and defeating Alex Windsor in her opening match. Hazuki had defeated Persephone to advance.

On the men’s side of the tournament, Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland will face each other in the finals at Forbidden Door with the winner earning their own title shot.
