Miranda Alize shares comments regarding AEW Collision controversy
Miranda Alize has shared some comments regarding her situation with AEW.
Alize and her partner Nixon Newell walked out of AEW Collision on Saturday, upset at the amount of time their scheduled match against Taya Melo and Anna Jay was given. Alize posted the following quote to her Instagram stories on Monday:
“The moment you start standing up for yourself, everything shifts. Suddenly you’re the problem – not because you’ve changed, but because you’re no longer letting them take advantage of you. They’ll paint you as the villain, but that’s okay because you’re finally choosing yourself. This is where your freedom begins.”
The quote frequently appears in motivational social media posts and does not have a clearly attributed author.
Alize and Newell addressed their situation with AEW in a Twitch stream last night, stating that there is no bad blood between them and the company. Newell also mentioned that she believes her in-ring career likely only has a year left, and she’s only interested in doing fun things before it ends.
The situation was addressed on last night’s Wrestling Observer Radio, with Bryan Alvarez noting that Alize and Newell’s actions on Saturday were confusing to many backstage.
Alvarez said:
“There were so many people that were like, ‘What a stupid thing to do.’ That’s the one thing I heard over and over, what a stupid thing to do.”
Meltzer added, “They’re not under contract. If you want to do something there, first get over. There’s people who do stuff because they have leverage and can get away with doing it. They had no leverage.”
